Strange question and i wont bore you with why BUT...if I buy a 2nd generation S10 (with electronic suspension)..could i take out the forks and rear shock and replace them with the forks and shock from my 1st generation bike??
I'm guessing that the ECU might wonder where the electronic suspension has gone and throw up error codes or other problems??
Any thoughts appreciated. (Reasons for considering this are complicated sorry...hence I wont bore you with it)

Hmm, that is a good question, that I can't answer correct.
But if it works like the heatet grips, the ECU will automatic adjust to wether they are present or not.
But maybe not fair to compare with heatet grips :p

Pretty sure you'll get a suspension error light that won't be easily canceled. Dunno if you can take the bulb out or not. Also, the rear linkage geometry for the ES is different to the standard model. To get the expected result you may also have to change some of the bits, besides the shock, back there as well.

The S10 with the Wilburs shock doesn't have ES on the listing.
Wow... a dealer with incorrect info...

FYI: the 2017 Yellow 60th Aniversary Super Tenere is only available as ES (here in Aust)... and if you actually look at pics 15, 20, 23 and 27 then you can see the electrical sockets/boots ontop of the front shocks.

Why not just buy a non ES? Or work out a color swap deal, (if that is your issue).

The mountings are the same so physically and functionally the answer is that you could.

Electrically - Not sure but maybe you could pull the suspension fuse to kill the warning? Not sure on this part.

Hi folks. Interesting replies. Here is an explanation for my post! I was looking at a very good deal on a 2nd gen S10 which had a very rusty rear shock and I prefer non ES anyway. So i was think to transfer the forks and shock from my old S10 (now my donor bike).
As it happens I have now just bought another Gen 1 so the problem is no more but I hope it made for an interesting idea! Thanks folks

I know this post is moot now, but, couldn't you switch out just the spring on the rear; leaving the electronic portion? Similar with the front? Because the spring aren't electronic, just the adjusters, right?
