Well, I hate to tell youse guys, but I think we had the first North American Super Tenere gathering today at Moonshine IL (population 2). Please don't tell Rem, as I know that it would break his heart that we beat him to it. Thanks to Justbob for mentioning that he and a couple other Super Tenere riders would be there today, so I just had to ride over and meet them. Turns out the Motorcycle Touring Forum folks had a RTE there today, so there was quite a crowd. I was able to wait in the line that streteched to the door and get one of their world famous cheesburgers though.

The Tenere riders from this forum were Justbob, from Kentucky, Johnnail from Indiana, Alan, who I think is also from KY, and I am from IL, only 106 miles from Moonshine. It was a pleasure meeting those guys and comparing farkles, etc. I plan on being in touch with justbob this winter as I tackle installing a Rostra electronic cruise control like he has on his bike.

It was a beautiful day for a ride, 42 degrees F when I left home at 0900 and 62 when I got home at 3:00. Rode only rustic country back roads over and back.

Here are a few pics:

Left to right in the first pic is johnnail, me, Alan and justbob.

Oh, I'm jealous! Not just because I missed out on another Moonburger, but because I missed out seeing 4 other members all in one place!!!

It's been cool here - not sure if we even broke 50 here and it is supposed to be cooler yet this coming week.

Well, I did kind of feel like an orphan with the only Black one there! MANY THANKS to whomever brought the nut brownies--yum!
Oh, and really good meeting all you guys. What a nice ride home! I found about 20 miles of muddy gravel....8^)

Thanks for the pictures, Fred!

Fred,
nice meeting you , glad you could come over and have a Moonburger with us today.
Alan is from new Castle Indiana.
Moonshine is about 190 miles from Louisville, I try to get up there a couple of times each year, since Terry Hammond started the Moonshine ride.

Hi John,

Nice meeting you today. Also, we midwesterners try not to be prejudiced about the color of Super Teneres, unlike some of our northern and western members. ;)

It was a pleasure meeting you also, Bob. Let me know whenever you are planning another Moonshine ride. It's practically in my back yard and my riding buddy showed me some cool country roads between here and there today.

Bummer! Wish I knew about the ride and was able to make it. I still have yet to see another Tenere on the road here in Indiana, or Illinois for that matter. I plan on the MLR in the spring, so we should have a pretty good turn out from the forum I hope!

Hi Alan,

Good to meet you also. It was nice setting a North American record for the most Super Tenere riders in one place. ;D

It was almost 5 Super Teneres there. I am an MTF member, Moonshine Lunch Run veteran, and friend of Bob and Alan. I was going to ride my Black ST the 730 mi. one-way from Maryland for a Moonburger, but backed out when it was cold enough for snow along my route in the mountains of Western MD and WV. Sorry I didn't go now....I really needed a ride.
