Is AVC a company that did your ECU Flash? What does AVC stand for? Before i got my S10's ecu reflashed i did feel like it lacked power. AVC took care of that for me. Sport mode is now more than enough power for when i feel like killing my rear tire. I would even go as far as saying my touring mode now has too much power delivery and will take more concentration when riding in rain or snow.
Anthony Corcella. He just mailed my ECU back to me... and I mailed it to him Monday morning from 5 states away. Should be here in 2 days. Cost $275. He is on this forum as avc8130. Just PM him and he will respond very quickly. Is AVC a company that did your ECU Flash? What does AVC stand for?
OK, so I am a little late coming to this particular party, but my question is, underpowered compared to what exactly? Was the S10 underpowered when it was producing the same bhp as a GS? I don’t think so! Yes, it produces less power than a Ducati Multistrada V4 or a KTM Super Adventure and even the newest BMW R1250GS now that BMW have joined the power pi$$ing contest, but if you can drag your focus away from these 3 letters, bhp, you will see that the S10 is a much more rounded package, so, for me, the S10 is a pretty damn good motorcycle, oh, and as for weight, have you seen how heavy the BMW GSA is?I realize that this is a delicate question, but please bear with me. The S10 owners that i have had the pleasure of speaking with love their S10's dearly. However, more often than not, they express a desire for more HP considering how heavy the bike is. Admittedly, the S10 is underpowered when compared to the GS or Super Adventure. I would like to hear from the S10 owners if they think the lack of HP is a hindurance to the performance of the bike or if they think it's a non-issue.
Don’t find it an issue, I’ve owned something like 16 bikes over 30 years and the key for me with any bike/vehicle its a question of useable power. The S10 is not lacking particularly in sports mode. Never had an issue overtaking even fully loaded.I realize that this is a delicate question, but please bear with me. Well said. I'm on my 9th year of S10 ownership with 3 Super Teneres, and never found any of them to be underpowered. I've owned a lot of other bikes over the years, primarily sport and sport touring bikes including a current FJR. The S10 has been called slow, agricultural, the Toyota Corolla of motorcycles, etc.. I've always found the S10 to be powerful, quick, with great handling. It may be slower than a KTM 1290, etc, but my previous Suzuki GSX 1000 would make the 1290 feel sluggish. It's all relative. I still enjoy mine, must be why I keep buying them.OK, so I am a little late coming to this particular party, but my question is, underpowered compared to what exactly? More like a Land Cruiser or Tundra...The S10 has been called slow, agricultural, the Toyota Corolla of motorcycles, etc..
He likely went to BMW *Hell*.......aka "dealership"What's weird about this thread isn't the whole "is it underpowered" conundrum. It's that the OP joined the site in 2011, never posted anything until 2016 (and all 20 of his posts were in this thread), and evidently still hadn't actually bought a Super Tenere at that point, five years after he joined. He was last on the site in 2018, still presumably sans-Super Tenere.
I kinda wish I'd made the decision to get married with such long term deliberation as the OP dedicated to a motorcycle purchase.
Preaching to the choir here……I am on my fifth S10, rode it today, and thought what a great bike.Well said. Define underpowered. How often do you find yourself saying "I need more power"? On the highway maybe, going into a headwind, trying to pass, going up a hill, in the mountains? 'Cuz around town, she has too much power. She'll break a back tire loose at the drop of a hat. I'm still searching for a tire that'll let me get more of her power to the ground.
