I am picking up the Super Tenere from Yamaha tonight and will have it available to look at this weekend in Longview, TX. We are also going to seize the opportunity to use the bike so Jesse Bags can get the bag mounts mocked up so hopefully they will be ready when the bikes roll in for those wanting the Jesse luggage.

I am told this bike has the factory bags in place, so we can look at the build quality and also to figure out where we can mount various items such as Powerlet outlets etc......... ;D

Those that want to see it come on by Friday or Saturday. I would have it there Wednesday, but once again the weather is not helping us. :'(

Thanks,

Tony

How long will you have it Tony? I'm helping with a valve check and a couple tire changes this Saturday so I won't be able to get by there and it can only be on a Saturday due to work.. hopefully, you'll have it a couple weeks?

Did anyone ever determine how many "demo" bikes Yamaha has floating around?

Rod, I spoke to a Yamaha customer care rep and he told me there are 10 units making the rounds to different dealers. These were the units used in Sedona for the press release.

Thanks Devin, that sounds about right. Does this include the ones being shown at the IMS?

Yeah... the idea of taking all those roads I had to turn around on when I have the ST is really starting to eat at me...

Rick - Trailace at MotoCampers.com is planning on doing his Continental Divide ride again but with his son and they've invited me IF I have a bike by then. I really like the 'character' of the Stelvio and the 8.5 gallon tank is a plus but that and the motor config means it's going to be more top heavy than the Tenere.

Basically, I'm pretty darn close to making a decision...

I asked Tony as I was hoping DFW but it's already made its rounds here I think, he said he'd find out as soon as he could.

Good deal. I rode it at IMS Dallas, but now a couple of guys here would like to see it, they have only read magazines of the bike.

JOe,

That Stelvio is one sweet looking bike, and 8.5 gal tank is huge, but how is Guzzi for maintenance cost and reliability? I've never owned one, but I've heard a few horror stories.

I'd also be concerned about the (lack of) dealer network. Yamaha (like honda) has a great dealer network.

Yeah, I'd like to think it's not something we should concern ourselves with these days due to quality but I don't have any personal experience with MG. Also, that 8.5 gallon tank seems nice while touring but that and the engine config probably add a lot of top-heavy feel to the bike which is not good.

Still leaning towards the Yammy at this point.

Maybe you should just get both and report back to us on the pros and cons of each one. ;D
