Summer Riding Pants Recommendation Wanted

I would really appreciate a recommendation for summer riding pants. I am looking for cool pants (mesh) with hip and knee protection. I always wear this kind of gear over my jeans, but don't want the legs too blousy and loose. My current summer pants are so loose, they kind of flap in the wind. Rain protection is secondary to airflow.

Thanks for helping me out.

I'm wearing First Gear mesh pants as summer wear right now. I don't even remember if they came with a waterproof liner. They'll last me at least one more season, and I think I bought them 4 or 5 years ago. I wear them directly over underwear most of the time. Great fit (they come in tall sizes) and good service life.

I bought a pair of the Firstgear HT Air Overpants two summers ago. I bought them during a close-out for cheap, and was planning to just wear them as an overpant for commuting. I found them to be a great overpant, and will purchase the updated model when these wear out.

The pants are easy on/off and not very baggy on top of my workpants. There is mesh in the upper thigh and lower leg area, with knee and hip pads (not the best pads). What I like about the pants is the zip out wind/rain liner. I can wear the pants in the California winters, and remove the liner and wear them in the spring / summer months. I wouldn't consider these pants on a long tour though. They just don't have the protection of a more serious riding pant. But then, you'll be sweating more.

Motoport Stretch Kevlar. Air goes right through, unless you use the liner in which case they're waterproof.

Custom made to fit. Best pants I've ever had.

I have several brands of pants for summer wear, the pair that get worn the most is my Motoport kevlar jean style pants. They are very comfortable, breathe well and have full armour, that is removable. The only thing they dont offer is rain protection. They are custom tailored to fit, you send them your sizes or better yet send them your best fitting pair of pants and they will match the sizing.
The Motoport mesh style kevlar overpants are stiff and bulky, I sold mine because they just hung in the closet. No matter how good your riding gear is, if its not comfortable to wear, it wont get used.
Aerostich recently had a sale on their AD1 overpants, I bought a pair but have not had the opportunity to try them out yet.
For the money, the Firsrtgear HT air overpants are hard to beat, Motorcyclegear.com has them on sale now. I have many miles on them with good results, they are mesh with a removable rain liner.

Been using the Fieldsher 4-Season pants. Not as an over-pant, just as my only pants. With liner great in the winter, no liner very good in the summer. I do not use them fall or spring, I have a different pant for those seasons. So they are a 2-season pant for me.

There's only one reason to wear protective gear ... for protection. IMO, that leaves only 2 options, leather or the Motoport Kevlar. Nylons do not offer the abrasion and tear resistance of leather or Kevlar unless its super thick which would make it too uncomfortable to wear. Also, the nylons don't breathe very well either making them somewhat unsuitable for hot weather use. I used competition weight leather most of my life until I investigated the Motoport Kevlar products. Now I have a Kevlar mesh jacket and a set of stretch Kevlar pants. After trying out these products, I even replaced my leather gloves with a set of stretch Kevlar gloves. I'm sorry I waited so long to go this route. In addition to superior abrasion and tear resistance (even compared to leather), they're much lighter and flow much more air than even my perforated leather suit.
