Stay away from this Air filter

The K&N filters, although oiled, do allow very fine particles of dust to pass through them.
I have experienced this with a couple different vehicles I have owned over the years.
I'm not an engineer, but from looking at their construction they do sacrifice filtering ability for better airflow.
In my opinion, they need more layers of oiled-gauze material to trap the really fine particles.
I was going to get the australian foam ones but can’t find them anywhere, i think Jaxon’s site is down also

Is there anything particular about the Australian ones? I could have a look around and forward them on if they don’t post to international destination.

Australian ones are individual foam filters for each intake, they’re reusable, like motocross style filters
Yes, I have them in my S10… what I mean is brand and details… are they Yamaha brand or HiFlo …
Any dimensions that you know of?
Preferences for clamps to hold them on?
Pure foam or wire cage inside to prevent collapsing?
I’ve not had to buy any as they were already fitted to my bike. I bought a K&N to install when I got it not knowing these were in there. When I saw them, I left them in place.
Essentially, any pod filter should fit and there’s heaps of different types about.

They are "UNI" brand foam cylinder-shaped pod-filters.
I believe Yamaha installed them on the Australia-spec bikes as OEM.
They are probably zip-tied over the intake horns from the factory?
They may or may-not have a wire cage inside them? You'd know by squeezing them...........

They do have a wire spring inside them, they’re double foam (finer foam) inside, UNI brand is not associated with UNI filters in US

I got one of the bad batch of HiFlo filters too. Always had great luck up to this point, however this is the first S10 one I've used. I missed the return deadline so used my heat gun on it to install.

(reference the attached picture of my new HiFlo filter)
Pictured is the bottom side of the filter. You can see the raised ridge along the outer edge of the filter. This ridge fits in a channel in the airbox. It seats against a rubber gasket in the channel to make an airtight seal.

Here are some more precise and more meaningful measurements than I did before.
I made 3 measurements on both the OEM and the HiFlo filters (see green lines). The measurements are made on the inside edge of the ridge.

....................A.............B ............C
.................(mm)....((mm).......(mm)
HiFlo.......144. ... .176.... .. 240
OEM ......140. ..... 172.... .. 240

Here is the link to Paul's short Video of the issue, trying to fit the HiFlo filter in the Airbox.

I had to loop it three times to make the video long enough that Youtube does not consider it a "Short"
This website does not allow embedding the "Short" clips.

I checked both of the spare HiFlo filters that I have, and compared them to the one that was currently in the bike.

This is the HiFlo filter that has been in the Airbox since I changed it a few years ago.

It definitely was working................No dirt got past this one.

Compared it to both of my new spares.
Other than the slight difference in the angle of the Triangle part of the filter frame, they were the same size.
Looking at the one I took out, it's entirely possible that the triangle was originally the same as the new one, and it warped from being bolted down inside the airbox for that long.

Inspecting how the Airbox Cover holds the air filter in place, it has some extra little "Wings" at the very front, and along each side.
It also uses the center "Post" along with the center-screw to bolt the triangle part to the lower half of the Airbox.

The new HiFlo filter fit into the lower Airbox without having to force it in there.
It wasn't just "Drop-In", but it pressed in pretty easily.

I started at the very front, and snugged the screws down as I went toward the back.
The top cover fits all the way tight against the lower half.
I saved the center-screw until last, and as I snugged it down I could tell that it was bending that triangle part down until it contacted and the screw tightened all the way.

I'll probably run this one, and the other spare one that I have until it comes time to buy another air filter.
I probably will not buy another HiFlo. Will most likely order an OEM one next time.
