hi
I have ST almost a year and my previous bike was honda varadero which I have used for 3 years. the same question was on my mind but I have decided to go for ST. recently I have tried one of my friends CT. this bike is awesome, very fast, long gear intervals ( hits 200km in second gear) it is a very good bike if being fast with a tall bike is something you have wanted however there are some downside of this choice. Handling is not easier than ST especially in the traffic ( I am living in istanbul and it is almost like a jungle you have to filiter the traffic most of the time st is very stable sometimes it almost stands still for a second when it is stoped I have never had it on varadero) definetely ST has alot better saddle especially for the pillion. CT has one piece saddle which might cause the pillion slide towards the rider . Pillion at ST is alot stable suspension of ST is really better than CT. ST absorbs the bumps alot better than CT. during hard brakes CT dives very easily than ST. I believe it deserves better forks and suspension. For me brakes on ST is better than CT.. and over all built quality is another concern if you look at to the shaft cover at CT you will see some cheap plastics. as for the CT dashboard is not good as I wish to see on such bike. ST has longer handle bars and the pegs and levers are alot better than CT. in the gravel ST fairings do not make such noise which CT has . I checked the screws used on my fairing even they are alot tolerating the vibration. Also because of projectors ST has better lighting than CT I have added a HID kit to my bike and with projectors they are performing alot better.
I have to say ST is re great mule I use it everyday for commuting and after using it more than a year having more power on such bike is not my concern. I advise the clutch mode which makes bike more responsive in first 3 gears.

Excellent writeup from someone using the S10 in a different environment than most of us. Pretty much adds to the different missions this machine is equipped to take on.

That was old_git_ray. He just got sick of non-owners saying it couldn't be picked up after explaining 20 times that it was OK. So he made a few videos of himself picking it up.

He is a retired English Gent. One of the first owners.

I guy called Greg (Wasp) was another one. Another esteemed beta first members of the community..So it's not isolated.

Having said that, I would suggest that you don't do it 50 times a day. ;D

And a bunch of people NOT dropping it. Gives you an idea of what the bike can do off raod. The rider is often the limiting factor. Most of these guys are from "dirty" backgrounds and therefore are not "scared of dirt" to begin with.

I'm 150lbs soaking wet, with a bum left arm, and even I can crank it back vertical from completely on its side without using any special technique. That's not to say it was super easy, but it was very doable.

Very good feedback. Many thanks... keep it on...
(this forum is a very good one, well done folks... for once people talk seriously with true feedback instead of throwing wise comments with no gain )

Many thanks

Actually this forum is labeled as the "too serious" forum on the other forum. :)

But it can get rowdy over here too.

I did not even know there was another dedicated s10 forum.

Well, only "dedicated" in the 2 threads that are specific to the Super Tenere.
It's a great forum for adventure riders. But definitely a little less disciplined. It's impossible to not hijack threads on this forum after messing around on that one. Since it's limited to basically 2 threads, it's generally accepted to widen the scope. :)

Many great things have already been mentioned about ST here, so I will not be repeating above said. I will, however add that ST is a work of art, absolutely stunning looking machine, especially the white one ::003:: ::013::

I gotta admit I didn't see it as good looking at first. In fact, odd was my adjective.

But now a fully farkled one can be a thing of beauty. In fact, without crash bars and mounts to hang stuff on, they look naked and unfinished.

Beauty is in the eye of the owner. I sorta like the warthog looks.

Warthog!

My favorite of all time. Been told it makes its own sound and the enemy learns to FEAR that.

Its like a titanium tubbed crop duster with a gatlin gun in the nose.

Simple affordable design. And incredibly affective at its mission. If I could fly, thats what I would want to master.
