Hi all,

Does anybody know what rider weight range the stock springs on the S10 are ideal for? I'm wondering if I'll need to invest in an aftermarket suspension job. I'm looking into purchasing a 2014 model.

::026:: I'm 125kg (275ibs) and it all seems to work with me and my gear. Could it be better possibly but I doubt whether I'll do anything about it until stuff breaks or wears out.

For the amount of money it will cost you extra, you could just get the standard and add custom aftermarket suspension.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum - probably about 175 lbs with gear on. I haven't dabbled much in suspension, but a shop I talked to a few years back about a dirt bike upgrade was able to somehow calculate out the range for the stock springs on the bike, that's how he was able to determine if a spring upgrade was needed or not, or just revalving. I've heard that some of the sport bikes are set up for like a 135lb rider stock. Given the S10's intended usage, I imagine it is spung pretty heavily, I'm hoping not too heavily.

I'm a noob at suspensions. I appreciate the help.

The 12/13 US model was not sprung very heavy considering its intended usage.

If you perform proper suspension adjustment and set up the stock suspension will work well for you.
Many folks make "suspension upgrades" when it is not necessary, some don't have the slightest idea about proper set up others simply seek bragging rights.

The stock suspension will work well for you unless you fit into one of the above categories..

There are a lot more categories he could fit in where the stock suspension would not work well for him...
