Rode down to Oark with the ADVrider DS crowd here in NWA to scout out some good gravel roads for the Fall Colors Tour Nov 2 -4. Here's a beautiful overlook called Spoke Plant that we traveled

The valley below used to be settled and that factory make wagon spokes. There was a narrow gauge railroad that carried the spokes to market. There is a two room school house down there as well. The Buttermilk Pie at Oark was wonderful as always. That valley is going to be extra gorgeous this fall.

Nice! Thought this was going to be another loose spoke thread. :D
No, Just a picture from an overlook showing an abandoned factory in the middle of BFA. Still standing says a lot about the construction. ::008::

Looks like a unique kind of place ... I had also thought that the thread was about the spokes of the Tenere ... pleasant surprise that it wasn't.

I need to make a Ozark or Oark run this fall, But right now I'm dreaming of a Moab run. White rim trail.

I have only been through Moab on the Venture, Don't know anything about the White rim trail except it looks like fun.
