I bought my S10 last October and ive been on the look out for a new speedometer (without success ::010::) as mine doesn't work properly. Anyway when it does read properly im looking at the speed readings and thinking ''yeah righto!! The speeds im doing certainly doesn't feel anywhere near wots indicating. Are the speedometer readings on these bike a tad optimistic or is it that mine aren't functioning properly....Or is it just me? ::26::

Before we start yet another thread on speedo error, there have been many.

These threads go to the general finding that the speedo is about 8% off, the BMWs are much more accurate, the odometers are more accurate, and there is an international standard which allows speedos to indicate high but never low.

And this is another improvement that Yamaha made with the 14, 15 models. My 14 only reads 2 mph high at 80 mph (78 on GPS) whereas my 12 read about 6-8 mph high at that speed.

Dont see how it makes much difference. All speedo's tell lies one way or another. Through the hedge at 77 or 10% slower still makes a big hole :(
