I'm just wondering if anyone else has an issue with their speedometer being off by 5 mph @ 75 mph ( mine is 5 mph slow according to my gps ) . I'm running stock size tires ( heidenaus) .Is there anyway to correct this and if so, how? Thanks

The answer is yes but if you do a search you will find seemingly endless posts on this subject. 2012-13 error is different than 2014-15.

Stock tires are typically 8% and aftermarket tires can vary a couple of percent.
Yamaha listened and the Gen 2 bikes are typically only 1-2 mph off.

I put a Speedo Healer on my 13 model. The speedo reads .2 mph higher than the gps now. At 70 on the speedo the gps reads 69.8. The odometer reads short by 3%. At 10K miles it is off 300 miles which is probably as close as any of them are.

Why bother with a speedo healer?
I've never had a bike that was accurate - 10% high is pretty standard. On my 950 I changed the wheel size to 19" on the computer which made it accurate, but then threw off the odo.

Yup, my '15 is only 1.5-2 MPH off.

Because when I look at the speedo, I want to know my speed without having to do the math each time.

@ highway speeds mine is off 5 mph...I just subtract or watch my GPS
+1

The 1-2 mph difference beyond that is really insignificant, unless of course that puts you into the $$$ ticket ::019::.

If I remember about a year ago, the stock battlewings were about 3 MPH off at highway speeds vs my Garmin 665. Got stuck in mud and decided to try Mitas E07 Dakar. Got the tires for off road but was very surprised that the speedo was exact to the GPS.

Now 9K miles later the tires have slightly squared off and now I am about 1/2 MPH off. Probably have to replace the tires in 2-3 K miles to get the speedo right!
