That made me LOL. :D

Seriously though, in the past none of my bikes were accurate. On the interstate they were always a little off. My last bike was about 5mph under at those speeds. No big deal really as I was aware and usually did 5mph over. ;)

Seems like Triumphs and BMW GSs are accurate and the Japanese stuff is optimistic.

I like passin troopers at 83mph and not getting a bill. 9 is fine but 10 is sin in the Sooner state. My RC51 is almost dead on but the ZRX is about 6mph off.

What is Japan? KPH's?

Yep. I wish the U.S. had switched, as they talked about doing quite some time ago.

The US safety regulations are that manufacturers can have a speedo read too high but can not certify & sell a vehicle with a speedo that reads low.

Tire diameter is closely related to speedo error and the Euros build far fewer bikes so keep tighter control over what tires go on them. The Japanese manufacturers may need to buy and install different brands of tires to make much bigger production numbers, so they intentionally design in a small amount of speedo error - typically 5-8%.

I wonder if the the ECU could have this added in the flash? You could tell them what percent the speedo was off and they could change in the new flash..?

If you correct the speedometer error you will then underdrive the odometer which generally tend to be pretty accurate. So if you correct for a 7% error on your speedo, your odometer will only show 93 miles for every 100 miles traveled. At least that was my findings after installing several HealTech and Yellow Box units.

Excuse my ignorance but my s10 is 4mph out at 30mph 4mph @40 and 5-6 at higher speeds according to Zumo 660..
I would always expect a little out on most machines. My last bike K1300GT was fairly accurate around 2 mph at almost all speeds. Again according to Zumo. What is a Speed Healer?

I think this error is to don´t have legal problems, then if the spedometer shows 55 mph factory are sure you are under that, and then don´t asume responsability. I can´t think about technological problems to show correct speed.
In my bike when speedometer shows 140 km/h (@4500 rpm) you are exactly at 130 km/h
