Yes, there is flat track racing in Florida. A couple places actually, but four guys from our local forum rode up to the Micro Speedway in Ocala last night to watch a good friend’s debut in the amateur class. His son (and grandson) have been racing awhile and he thought he’d get in the game. He came in 4th.

I wasn’t aware of this track, but as it turns out, it’s right next to Hardrock Cycle Park on the north border where I used to take my YZs for years and go from time to time to watch mx and vintage mx. I guess they’ve raced midgets at Micro, but recently opened it up for flat tracking for the Southern Dirt Track Association. Several classes, including a vintage, plus a couple atv classes. Pretty cool! Lots of fun! If anyone is interested in this type of racing, the remaining races for this season are HERE.

My buddy’s RM-Z450

Racing went well into the night. I didn’t roll in at home until 12:30

Although not at the moment, the Tenere got a lot of attention.

Photos from the final round of the Southern Dirt Track Association races in Ocala, Florida…

My bud, Dylan (No. 25). He’s third for the season.

They had a Dino Tracker Class

^ This old Indian did second in each of the heats and won the main in this class.

Dylan on another lap.

It was a little over two hours up to Ocala because we had the KL250 so couldn’t take the interstate. We rolled in an hour late. The races got delayed an hour. Perfect!

Overall, very enjoyable. I look forward to the start of the new season, which I understand starts in February.

After the races, my son and I stayed over in Ocala and did 300 miles starting off in the Ocala National Forest and working our way back to Tampa.
