I had a bmw 1150gsa for 7 yrs and con honestly say i missed it, sold it 15 yrs ago to a guy in London who still has it, i,ve often wondered what happened to it
and wow it was on ebay 2 weeks ago, 15 yrs it was looking very tired, he had put 80000 on it and used it for work in our uk weather, so it got me thinking i need
another one of those loved eveything about it.

Thats a nice looking bike!

It must be sad to see the end of one of our "babies". I sometimes regret the sale of previous bikes, but since I have been moving around a lot in the past, I can't take bikes owned with me.
I must confess I want to get a Beemer one day.....what is something good about these 1150gsa compared with the last models? is it less mechanically complex/ less electronics?

Every time the odometer clicks over another thousand miles on the Super Ten, I can't help thinking that this bike, much as I love it, isn't going to last forever. When I look at other bikes with an eye towards replacement, it seems I lean towards older GS models.

I wouldn’t mind owning a BMW but there are very few BMW dealerships in my area, the closest one is 150+ miles from here so that’s the main thing that has kept me from buying a BMW.

i have had my tenere 10 yrs and spent a fortune on it, and still love the bike for everything it doers well, but the same goes for the 7 yrs i had the 1150 gsa, loved the size of it the reliablity of it as well as it was when bmw was good basic bike, love the boxer engine and the tele lever suspension
always said i would get another as long as i could get a very well maintained clean bike, this was a non abs bike 2 so thts even better

Looking at the thread title, I thought you were puting a car tire on the Tenere. :D
Me too.

Glad to hear your Tenere stays.
My son is a big guy so even though I am enjoying the Guzzi, we are talking about a Tenere for him. So far he's holding off due to how busy he's been with everything else in his life.

The oil heads were great bikes. If BMW still made them like that it be a whole lot better all the way around. Good luck with your new purchase, hope it's all you remember.

I don't know. The 1150 that I had was great 'till about 39k miles. Then it turned into a turd. Ironically, the power brakes that were known to be problematic, NEVER gave me a bit of issue. But the input shaft, starters, kick stand, and clutches were a different story. But after 60K miles, the engine was using much less than when it was new.

Based on how long I keep a bike, whatever one I buy this next time might end up being my last, so I hope it'll be one as good as the S10!

Thats funny, I bought a BBQ grill a few years back and they were out of the assembled ones and as I was putting mine together I was upgrading the hardware and putting red loctite on everything and I thought the same thing.....this might be my last BBQ. I trade out bikes fairly regularly, the longest I hav owned a bike is my gen 2 KLR I bought in 2011 and still have.

The bike I owned the shortest time was my V-Strom...I had that for about 18 months, right before I got the S10. Before that I had my Harley Road King for a decade.

..my nickel on the lawn..
i have a collection of bikes from as far back as early/mid 80's, and since i have never gotten rid of anything the only bike i wanted back was the '77 Harley XLCR that was stolen. I just cant seem to let go of my babies without loosing an arm, trouble is storing them and using them has cost me a fortune. wasn't it Bob Seger who sang " beautiful looser, you just don't need it all..."
Having declared that, .. may I say that it has occurred to me lately that perhaps i should keep my main stable and let a few come and go for a cool change. or even get down to one bike at a time..? I think the ST is a keeper. The Goldwing is the most comfortable bike i own, but sooo heavy. The ST fits the bill in it's place and handles just as well. Now at long last, each bike has its own purpose. Happy to have found the ST and you all.

I am some what that way as well! I have a shop full of bikes. when i buy another bike it is always a better deal to just buy it than to trade. I think if i will sell the old one later and be ahead in cash. Of course i am NOT a sales man. I hate to deal with selling and so here i am with too many to ride and keep up. I tried 3 times to sell my FJR1300 last year. I priced it all three times to sell. All three people said they wanted it but there was always some sort of issue. One didn't want to put it in his name. One wanted it cheaper and I was already giving it away and the other had a wife! haha. any way looks like she is staying with me. I start it and ride it some but not very much at all. guess i will keep them all and let the kids sort them out when I am gone. haha.
