Hi all,
New member in deepest darkest Hampshire in wet dank England. Looking forward to buying my super tenere in the next week. Wifey has given the go and the bank has said yes so just have to get myself to the dealers and trade in my trusty Vstrom. ;D It's now boils down to what colour and which of the two dealers nearby wants my cash.

One dealer does have a grey 2013 in stock for £9,999 which is nicer than £11,999 for the 2014.
I know Yamaha did tinkle with a few things but is it worth the extra money?

And if my wife lets me buy a non blue one!

Whatever you choose I'm sure it will be your best bike you've ever owned don't let your first ten miles form your opinion this bike gets better every mile I put on mine

I think the new one just gets Cruise Control and Electronic suspension.

I would go for the 2013 one and get a fork re-work and ECU flash (about £600 for both) and spend the remaining £1400 on tyres and fuel ::008::

Welcome on, 2750jay from merry old England. Sounds like you're good to go. I have a grey '13 and love it. I guess if I was buying a new one, and I had the money, I'd have to consider the '14. I really like the cruise control. There are a few other tweaks but it's the same bike basically. Your call. Let us know. ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::

Think I will go for the 14 due to the improvements but not the ZE just the bog standard Z - I don't need the electronic suspension as I hardly ever adjust mine as it is. Just got to get the wife to agree on colours.....

Hmmm, and hmmmmmmmm again. Wifey likes the grey colour and looking at the differences I will probably now go for the 2013 that I know the local dealer has for £9,999 and spend some of the savings on luggage(want the removable SW mototech pannier frames) and other farkels.
I know the 2014 has a better engine map, tweaked engine and that LCD screen which perversely I like but I think the 2013 is sooooo much better than the current bike I will be a happy chap

I wouldn't pay that much extra for the 14 I know that much. It isn't that much different. Especially if that isn't the electronic suspension model.

Get the 13 and keep some cash for luggage and the inevitable tarting up bits!

Off to look at a grey 13 S10 tomorrow night. And the weather report is for heavy rain and gales. Joy. Just got to see how much trade in I can get for the Vee

Got the full SW-Motech setup myself, can meet up sometime if you want to see the stuff on the bike ::008::

For two-up the rear box sat a little too far forward for my Mrs so I had the base plate machines out and relocated it 2 inches further back, if you have this problem let me know as the Mrs now has her own bike so I am removing the modded rack and reverting to stock.

One thing I can guarantee is that a 2014 will not be a patch on a Flashed earlier bike ::008::

For me Cruise control would be really nice, but not bothered about expensive electronics to control cheap suspension - I just fitted much better suspension to mine, it works over a much wider range without needing adjustment and will last many years with nothing more than a bi-annual service at about £100.

Thanks for the offer but I already have a Givi plate adapted in a similar way on the Vee but the wife prefers just to hang on to my 'love handle' belt as having a top box gets in the way of her getting on and off the bike. Now looking up must have extras

::004:: along from OZ.

I came of a VeeStom and was very happy. I think the particular advantage to you would be the S10's ability to survive deeper water crossings and won't get washed away as easily ::025::

I am sure by next year you will be back in a drought again., and riding will be good. The S10 is good on gravelly dusty roads as well. I know.

Congrats and ::003::
