My oldest son stopped by to see me yesterday. He works 2nd shift for the same company as I.

He asked that I leave the garage unlocked because he was going to ride up after work, spend the night, and work on his bike in the morning. He appeared to be a little distracted at the time, but when I asked him about it he said everything was good.

He has a Ducati 848 and had dropped it recently so I figured he was going to touch up the scratches on the fairing.

This morning, as I stumbled into the kitchen at 4:30 AM, he strolled in behind me. I wondered what was going on since I knew he should be asleep. I asked what’s up and he said that I need to see what he had done to his bike. Immediately I thought ‘Oh shit, what have you done now!’ I figured he had messed up the bike. I looked into the garage expecting to see a red, white, and green 848. I was baffled for about 15 seconds as I stared at an all-white bike. I turned to look at him and he had this big grin on his face. As I turned back the light bulb went on and I realized he had bought the bike he had been talking about for the last 6 months, a Ducati 899 Panigale.

It is bitchin!

Also glad to see you son is as serious about his gear.
Yeah, I drilled that into him. He was fully kitted out before he bought his first bike (Kawasaki 250 ninja).
It wasn't top of the line, but was better than jeans and tennis shoes.
He went down on Palomar Mtn. and the gear did it's job but was unusable after. He learned a good lesson there.
He has since upgraded and has the full leather suit and another 2 piece setup.
But he does sometimes rides in these high top, tennis shoe like 'motorcycle' foot wear that I cringe at that thought of.
But that's just me 'cause I am use to 'Adventure' boots.
