Good question OC.

Started riding again in 2006 and have not ridden 2up. Do most of my riding without other riders but prefer the company of others (one or two preferred).

He did say Solo Riding without passenger or riding buddy .
I do like riding solo sometimes, you can ride as much or as little as you want like when I left Colarodo for home I rode 2800 km in 38 hrs slept beside my bike at an rest stop for a few hrs then back on the bike.

I like the lonely. I make the pace and distance but getting far from civilization makes me uncomfortable. People open up to you more when your alone.

...or... do YOU open up more to people when you're alone?

(I agree with this statement, and tend to find that, like so many things, you get back what you put in, so for me meeting "locals" often leads to unique, interesting experiences and conversations.)

I agree with the above. I prefer riding without a passenger but i do enjoy sharig the experience with my significant other (but after i had my first spill and she happened to be with me i will stick to riding 1 up). I prefer riding with one other Motorcycle/person for safety and conversation, but any more than one person gets to be too much for me. I do have a riding buddy who like me is down for just about anything. We rode to central mexico last year and his bike broke down outside of San Luis Potosi, he sure was glad i was with him. Of course he wasnt riding a tenere, haha.

All off the above, my least favourite is the ride in a snaking line of bikes. The world you can create in your helmet is a good one no politics no bolloxs no family shit, no concern about the other rider(s) getting hungry/short of fuel/ need a smoke................................................. love it

I like to ride alone on big trips from time to time.
Last spring I rode 10 states in 5 days with an average of 500 miles a day. My wife will ride with me on back or on her bike but does not like to go on my long hard rides.
Next weekend I will leave again from Indiana for either Main or Montana. Depends on the weather.
Trying to finish my Iron Butt National Parks Tour.

I'm with many of the others. When riding the tenere, I usually ride solo. Distance makes no difference. My wife has no desire to ride with me. I do have a few people that I ride with from time to time, but most of my miles are done solo.

I do like riding with other people when I'm on my DR and just thrashing around the woods.
I didn't vote because no one answer covers it.

^^ THIS ^^

I won't say I always ride solo, but riding is my therapy and escape. I particularly enjoy riding in the rain, I don't know if it's the heightened focus and concentration required, or just the pitter-patter of rain on my helmet, but it works wonders for my mental state...

I ride a lot of solo mainly as I have more vacation than most of my riding buds.

I have 3 guys I can go forever with, no issues we all get along. A bunch more and a weekend trip to a race is enough.

But riding alone is awesome. No discussion, just a pause to ponder the turn and go. And I never would have got my party on with the three families of Germans in rented RV's in Bryce Canyon if I had been with someone else.

I can agree with that 88, been riding over 25 years but after my crash last month I feel compromised in some way or an inadequate rider I do need to get over it I think this will happen as I get on another Steed again and feel the world I love.
I would take my neighbors kid out on my Triumph Tiger cutting loose in the Mountains he had fun, but I had bad dreams after the crash (What If?) of him laying in the street next to me, lucky this was a dream and he was not with me at that intersection, going to be hard to tell him I can't do it anymore with him..
I have always rode without a passenger other than 200 mile runs with the kid from time to time.
I like the freedom of choosing places to rest take in the beauty of the world take photos meet some cool folks drink beer and eat MRE's under the stars.
I have one riding buddy with a Kawasaki Connie but after 400 miles he starts having mental melt downs and I have to be a sport and accommodate his weakness! But we do have fun when we camp and like talking about stuff we encountered, he's more a campground guy I am happy digging a hole to do my business in the wild high country, but anyplace to pitch a tent is good by me.

I am looking foreword to getting this new Terene next week, it will slow me down as I need to.. ::021::

HA!
That trip was BT (before Tenere), I was on my Feej

Not sure whether its because I am more open or I am more approachable, but as others stated above, I seem to interact more with others when riding solo.
