I did check and there is no option for temporary tags in MA AFAIK.Could you get a temp tag in MA and then fly to Tulsa with it or does that require registering the vehicle? This could be a question for your MA DMV.

Oklahoma has a new policy, anything to save a buck?, to transfer the plate to a newer vehicle. When registering the Tenere’s replacement, i was requested/asked could we use the same number. Not being a ‘man of the world’ I didn't know how it would bite me in the end. Point to note: the bike does not have a tag. Probably saved member fizzer a lot of grief.I don't know why he would need to retain the license plate. But, I also don't know OK rules. Texas does not allow plate transfer either. . . . unless it's a personalized plate that's issued to a person rather than a vehicle. Maybe leave the current plate mounted, until you get home, and registered in MA. Then, mail it back to him. Good luck.
I hate single digit typing. I ment to say, I could have saved fizzer a lot of grief.Oklahoma has a new policy, anything to save a buck?, to transfer the plate to a newer vehicle. Yup... The plan is to use my existing bike's tag and drive saneFizzer told me he talked to the same lady I did at our local Tag Agency. They basically said the same thing, a Bill of Sale, Signed over Title, Proof of Insurance. If you remain sane on the roadways, the police have no reason to pull you over. Don't know if he is going to pull a tag from one of his bikes and bring it with him to blend into the traffic. Thanks for keeping in touch.
Oh yes, it looks like everything is going to be completed to agreement of both parties. Once he is on the road, I'll change this long running status.
Well, Sierra1, I appear not to know Oklahoma's rules either. It was sounding like Mass and Okla were at odds regarding pre-licensing. Lots of calls to the Tag Agency. Then they turn around and ask the others there to get confirmation.Oklahoma has a new policy, anything to save a buck?, to transfer the plate to a newer vehicle. Once you get registered, you can then ride for fun! Send us a pic with your riding group!Yup... The plan is to use my existing bike's tag and drive sane
For the record. . . . that is not a good idea. It would be better to have no plate, and bill of sale, signed title, and proof of liability insurance. . . . than to have a plate from something else. No plate, with paper work, easy to explain honestly. Different plate equals deception. Deception not good.Yup... The plan is to use my existing bike's tag and drive sane
I would agree with you but it was said previously that in MA no plate = instant confiscation. Unless I live within a few miles of the state line, I don't think I would take that chance. For the record. . . . that is not a good idea. I wouldn't call it deception... There is no clear documentation or understanding of how to deal in this types of situation. Even the people at the registry do not know a clear answer. For the record I went twice to my state's registry and also called OK's tag agency. @Conflubmw also spoke to the Tag agency. For the record. . . . that is not a good idea. My dad was in sales his entire career. He loved his job, going out and socializing. I just don't have the fortitude to do that. Fizzer was a nice as he could be, but I get stressed out prior to the sale, "If this thing goes south, this fellow traveled all the way from Mass and it's gonna be my fault". Now, who can I blame?I am glad that is all worked out!
