Has anyone tried out the soft body armour now available. There are apparently several companies that provide various components
of this technology from individual pads to close fitting temperature sensitive body suits. The technology evolves around two or three
types of liquid imprenated textiles, depending on the manufacturer, which hardens in micro seconds on impact and reverts back to its
original state when the force has disapated.
I am very interested in this as it is said to be close fitting, light weight, temperature sensitive, wash and wear and is said to be worn
under regularl jeans and shirt.
This I belive would be most suitable for normal riding conditions and compliment hard body armour for more aggressive off road riding.
I think I read some where that Icon is or has come out with a body suite ? This combined with Yamaha's Outlast jacket and pant should be amazing.

The temperature sensitive body suit I read about comes from England, cant find the artical now.

I've got the d30 armor pads in my TPG jacket.
I understand the science and have looked up the YouTube videos. I think for my typical commuter risk that it will perform ok, but not much more.
I sure would be more comfortable with a better set of Euro-spec pads that have a tough shell and dissipating foam interior.

You can't beat hardened armour. Trust me I know. In my profession we get clad in the best kit going. The outer surface is hard and bonded to an inner material which is heat sensitive. Your body heat basically acts as a catalyst and the protective sections form to the shape to which they are adjacent/touching. This happens everytime you don the armour ... doesn't feel right for about thirty seconds then everything moulds into place and you are oblivious to its presence. It can get overly hot in certain conditions .... I'm talking desert heat though. My latest trial of it was when a frightened trooper (not US I might add) decided he didn't want to jump from a transport ... panicked and dragged me off the ramp with him. If I hadn't had my body armour on I'd have been in a right state. I was attached to a safety line and so only fell about a metre and a half .... just enough to remove every bit of skin from any unprotected surface due to the turbulence throwing you around like a rag doll. So I'm rather glad of our strict policies regarding the wearing of armour and the harder it is the better ..... IMHO
