So much short term Tenere ownership?

I'm noticing here that many people buy the Tenere, ride it a few thousand miles and then sell it. Seems every few days another pops up in the for sale section. What is it that makes this bike such a short timer for people?

My worst fear is, when I die, that my wife will sell all of my motorcycles for what I told her that I paid for them.

Over three thousand members on this site. I don't think the for sale rate is any higher than normal for any machine. Just a quick look on CycleTrader shows similar numbers on the 1200 Beemers. There are a lot more used Tigers for sale than Teneres :)

Also many of the for sales that pop up are members with minimal and sometimes just the one post. There are much more introductions than for sales.

My wife was pissed when I told her I paid $5000 for my tenere.

I can relate because I am thinking of selling/trading in mine for something a bit more comfortable.

I keep reading the 'for sales' and am trying to talk myself out of buying a second one. Some of the prices with farkles are down right sweet.

There was one in Florida and I had to talk myself out of flying down and riding back.

I agree with this. I think most makes/models have similar turnovers as a percentage of fleet size. I do think we're going to see an uptick in S10 bikes on the used market in the next year as the bleeding-edge guys who want the latest/greatest migrate to BMW and KTM with their new models.

Put some more foam in the seats, cheaper than a new bike ::008::

Did she calm down when you told her all the stuff for the bike that keeps coming by UPS is free?
I just try to make a point to get home before she does so I can intercept the boxes. Or I tell her it is for work. For which I usually get the " yeah right"
response.

At 6'6" tall I can't put anything that will make the seat higher. I've been looking at the Victory Cross Country Tour. Just having some trouble wrapping my mind around the cruiser style and figuring out how I would explain it o my wife.

I'm a long ways from "bleeding edge"; I look to get a lot more than a year or two out of a motorcycle purchase. But if I needed to buy a new big adventure bike today, I'd certainly look at the new BMW and KTM.
