Called my dealer today to schedule the headlight harness recall. I ask for the service department and get a hold of one of their service advisers. I ask him how long they'll need my Tenere to get this recall done. He hesitates and asks me what's the recall for. I explain it to him and describe my notice. I hear him flipping through stuff and typing away. He asks which bike again. This time I say a SUPER Tenere. more flipping and typing. Then finally, after a sheepishly long pause he asks.........."Who makes that bike?"

WTH?!! You're a Yamaha, Sea-Doo and Can-Am dealer. That's it. How the hell don't you know what a Super Tenere is?! ???

I'll bet you can guess how confident I am at having this work done now, can't you. ::010::

it's not the bike that's rare, it's the knowledgably of the service department that's rare. with the seedoop and crapam lines sounds like they just know kwads or sleds

Stadium Yamaha will most likely know what a Tenere is. I was having mine serviced in Weatherford and someone in the parts department asked what kind of bike I had, to which they replied, " a what"....

I actually bought my bike from Stadium. Great people and very personable. Also seemed to really know the ST and appreciate it. Only thing is it's quite a haul from my house and dropping off the bike and picking it up is a PITA. That said, it's probably what I'm going to do.

Going to a shitty dealer will be way more of a pita than a nice ride to a great dealer.

The local dealer said they needed the bike for 2 days to do the recall so it wouldn't be just a ride there and back. I'd have to load it in my truck and drop it off and pick up a few days later. Does 2 days sound right? Is that what most of you are experiencing?

It should take 30 minutes. 45 minutes if they are slow movers.
