Hmmm ... not the bestess of days yesterday ... run into SMIDSY for the the first time in a very long time ... well rather she ran into me ::007::

Got cleaned-up on the motorbike by a right-turning motorist who didn't give way ... not sure whether I braked but certainly just saw her coming at the last and managed to reduce the angle and stayed upright ::008::

Right leg is fairly sore and fairly badly bruised ... doesn't seem like anythings broken ... bike has sustained some reasonably deep superficial damage but hopefully everything will be repaired with simple bolt on replacements. Managed to rip a fair amount of the front of her car off.

So far damage looks like: bent brake lever (ended up with my foot jammed between the lever and the footrest), stuffed passenger footrest hanger, bent right-hand Alt-Rider crash bar, bent right-hand Alt-Rider heel guard ... and deep paint scoring on the right-hand panel. This is all easy stuff but I do have a worry about the front right footrest mount which has been pushed back a bit :(

Will have a closer look after a good nights R & R ??? On reflection could have been a lot worse

VERY glad it worked out so that you weren't hurt worse. In case you ever do want to go to your insurance, file a police report while you can, if not already.

With respect to the bent mount for the foot peg, your description sounds like the frame was bent. Hence the comment about filing an insurance claim.

Remember to tag her insurance company for any protective gear that you may've damaged, such as pants or boots.

Geez, hopefully nothing major with yourself or the bike. You may want to get yourself checked out for the record.

Heal well.

+1 on getting yourself checked. Sometimes people think they're OK, with just some bruising, then get worse later on. Glad it wasn't worse though. ::008::

Sorry to read about all that Platty.

Looks all fixable but as others have said make sure you get the medical attention first etc.

Most of that stuff is unboltable, unlike say a Tiger where that would have been a write off.

(whether that is a good of bad thing depends on you take).

Heal quickly and well.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, old son, for you and the bike. Please take the advice of those experienced ones here and make a full report to police and insurance. Things have a way of cropping later on, and the first question you'll be asked is "did you file a report" or "did you contact the insurance company" ? Hope you're kicking pavement butt again soon. All the best. R ::008:: ::020:: ::019:: ::024::

By the way, platty dude, I'm gonna move this to the Lounge. By no means meant to be disrespectful of your situation or the importance of it …. just some basic housekeeping. Get better !!!!!

Re: SMIDSY - Lucky Me - The squabble starts

Hmmm interesting ... my local Yamaha shop have agreed that the right side front footpeg is bent back at about 10 degrees and down around 5 degrees. This is where things get intersting because the footpeg mount is a welded bracket and under Australian rules the frame can't be heated, welded or straightened to repair :'(

The obvious conculsion doesn't pan out very nicely ???

I had a phone conversation with the assessor and he seems to agree with the general gist of what I've been told but have to wait until the formal assessment process has been completed

Irrespective if the worst comes to the worst I have confirmed that I am able to remove all my farkle bits before saying goodbye :(

Bugger, shit & poohs ::007:: Have already put the feelers out as to price and availability of the 2014 S10 ... the initial thought is that Yamaha Australia won't handle the XT1200ZE but will only bring in the "standard" version.

The next few weeks might just be "interesting".
