Ever considered that it might be incorrect fitting that causes the melting?
What you are saying is that a correctly fitted can will burn you bike?
Mines been on for 20000km on and off road, long highway slogs an many with Wolfman Soft panniers on and nothing has burned now tell me who has an incorrectly fitted can.

Roge, maybe if you read my original post carefully , you would see where I was very clear about burning things with the plug removed. I have about 5000 miles with the Yoshi with the end pipe intact with no worries, but the minute I removed the end cap,.... look at the pics above. Now go brush up on your rugby and practice for the Boks .

Akrapovic for me. I love the pipe. It is not significantly louder than stock, but is definitely throatier, more authoritative, and very good looking as well.

We encourage questions here on the forum when someone doesn't find the answer they're looking for with the search. Whether that's by bumping an old thread, or starting a new one with a new question. For exhaust systems, I have yet to see a definitive comparison between all the available options, mostly because that would require a dyno, a test mule, and some patience.

Remus Hexacone Ti/Carbon - Sounds great with the baffle removed. no issues with melting anything. Looks good too!

Only down side is my mpg has gone down, but I don't mind as my smiles per gallon has gone up. :)

Arrow head pipe and Leo Vince can, no issues with the down turn in it.

I search periodically for a used Stayintune to
mod. New is just stupid expensive.

hey guys thanks for getting back on target here.........

Ok so I have a great bike shop and we found 3 slip on's. Did not find any pipes or complete exhaust systems in his books. So I guess there are some complete systems out there. I am at the pint now (12,000 miles 20% asphalt) where I can do wants and not needs. I talked about mapping it and thinking about the exhaust. I never found any good info on if the exhaust will add benefit. So to me it is basically cosmetic and weight reduction (give me some examples to prove me wrong) so I can see dropping $500 for that but not much more. Now if I did a whole system for $1000 it better have something other than what I mentioned.

I know Mark will tell me to map it, I never have rode his despite his many offers. I asked for pictures for the cosmetic reasons. Thnaks for the pictures

Arrows downpipes can be used with any end can as they simply replace the stock ones but are lighter and have no cat. The replacement downpipes give more horsepower than the end can.

stooopid question coming.............

so I saw "cat" in a earlier post and I thought it was a typo and the poster meant "cap". Guess not, please educate me, what do mean they have no "cat"?

Cat = Catalytic Converter. It sits in the downpipes under the bike to clean up the exhaust gases. It restricts flow, so removing it improves performance and reduces weight.

I don't think a cat is fitted to all bikes but not sure. Didn't think they were in the Oz bikes.

ahhhhh, how did I miss that!!!!! Thanks, feeling a little smarter now.

So when you removed it did you also take off the O2 sensor?

I'm not saying you are wrong, but I'd be surprised if they built a different exhaust just for the Australian market, it's not like it's a huge market for them to carry the cost of using different parts.

True but we got a different air filter and different switch set with hazard lights and dimmer.

The O2 sensor talks to the computer so you would need to lie to the computer with something like this https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=o2%20sensor%20dummy or have your ECU re-flashed to compensate for that function.

good point.

so way back when, when I was deciding which mod to do (afford) I looked at flashing. To be honest it was too much for me to take in at the time. I assumed at some point I would do it, and I decided I would do it and when I did a flash.

So my conclusion is that it (slip on) does not really add much to the performance aspect. I am all about reducing the weight and add cosmetic value.

So, you could remove the cat first if you can weld and beat the crap out of the darn cat as well as have patience. You will feel an instant result. It's free and compares to the arrow headers. You can also buy a power commander fuel controller and download a PC 5 map for the full arrow system if you decide to install an aftermarket can. Feel the bike and if you feel you need more, then have it flashed.

No the 02 sensors remain, the Arrow headers have sockets for them. If you removed the sensors without re-flashing to tell the ecu not to use a closed loop it would run very weird between 1750 revs and 5000 revs when the engine had warmed up as that is the closed loop area. The closed loop area is where the ecu uses the O2 lambda sensors to determine the correct air fuel ratio. I do plan on getting it reflashed at some point.

Mines never had the plug fitted.

However it looks ike the bikes in Aus don't have the reflector mentioned.

My exact setup except those side reflectors were gone the first day I bought the bike.

At the Pine Barrens 500 many people said my bike was the best sounding one in the parking lot.
Yeah those reflectors are pretty cheesy and i love the sound big improvment !!
