I stay on the bike while refueling so I can slosh the last drop into the tank, then clear the bike away from the pump before stretching the legs.

That's me too. I'm not concerned about the auto shut off as I always control the flow myself. I am tall though and have long arms, so I expect that does help.

As to the sidestand, I think the lean is fine. It does leave the bike stable.

The lean contributes to stability, so it would be unwise to extend the stand by much. It could be more easily tipped by an errant backer-upper, a stiff wind, a loaded right pannier or cambered surface. It would also be harder to deploy the stand if you're leaning left for any reason.

I've been happy with the big foot from Touratech. I can park on just about anything from hot asphalt to wet sand.

I put a "Camel Toe" on mine. Bigger foot print for soft surfaces, and great conversation piece.

I have Jaxon's sidestand foot, and cranked in an extra 3/4 turn of preload on the suspension spring to recover lost lean angle. Of course, I'm 6' 2", and the extra 3/8" of height is immaterial to me. Best of luck!

I appreciate the lean on the S10. the KTM A990 didn't lean enough, and even on a slight slope it was at risk of taking off or being blown over. With the S10, the lean seems excessive, but on my driveway, and parking lot at work, I like it. The A990 was a pain to get on the Center stand so I rarely used it. The. The S10 is much easier to put on the center stand.

I too made a plate similar to a camelfoot (I'm too much of a skinflint to buy one), but I have a question as to whether folk leave their bike on the side stand when garaged or always put it on the centrestand, and whether there is any disadvantage to just using the sidestand?

hey now...I currently own a KLR and when I got it the previous owner lowered it.....I got set of stock links from an inmate on the adv forum for free and I wasn't about to spend a lot of money on a stock sidetand so I made my own adjustable sidestand out of the old one.

Cut the stand welded a 3/4" nut on the bike side....welded a 3/4 threaded rod on the foot side. Threaded on a 3/4 nut on the threaded rod threaded that into the nut welded on the stand....adjust to desired lean...tighten jam nut....done....it looks a lot better after I painted it....my welding isn't the best.

Brilliant!

KLR's are the mother of invention.

Now that i've installed Jaxon's dog bones, it looks pretty ??? scary... Then again, in certain circumstances i found it more safe. First i'll try with touratech big foot before doing anything else.

Jaxon extended my side stand a little, plus his sidestand foot. The bike now stands up in, what is to me, a more appropriate angle. It also makes 'horseback' mounting much easier.
What the hell is "Horseback mounting"?

Last week I took the Tenere out for a little ride and it was the first time I had it out with all three OEM boxes on. Although I'm 6'1" with a 35" inseam, getting on it looked a little daunting so I stepped on the low side foot peg and swung a leg over hoping no one seen me getting on my bike. I was able to easily hop on with no drama and thought it was similar to getting on a horse only the horse didn’t stink and move around while I was trying to get on. LOL

Seriously this is the only way to get on a bike with panniers and a top bag, especially with big boots on. Easy to do it, No hopping on one leg while you try and get the other one over the seat ::026::

yea thats how i always get on with high bike like the wr250 at full height its the only way to get on

i always clamp my front brake while i do it so theres less chance of it rolling off the stand i guess?

Just remember... Left leg on the peg... Can be embarrassing if you put your right one one! ::014::

I'm using Jaxons sidestand foot - a CNC work of art - and it raises the bike lean to a more aesthetically comfortable position. especially when my bags are loaded...

plus, now I can get rid of that ghetto crushed can bouncing around in my top case when the ground's soft...

from my research, this is the sidestand foot that has the most dramatic affect of all options out there. jaxons foot is 1/2" thick, so you do the math on how much that raises the bike when at an angle...it's considerable but far from too much
