Those Holans are what I am waiting for. I was told that the next batch ships out in early April, and that I am on the "list" for contact to pull the trigger on em. Would be about 10 to 15th of April till I can get em. Great price and seems to hit the spot for what I was looking for. :)

I ordered my Holans from Motorcycle Insight.
I just got off the phone with them, and they stated they are expecting a large shipment of them today. (Really?)
They say they will get them shipped out to us within the next two days, and I am on that list. :)
I ordered mine about three weeks ago, and am really anxious to get them on the bike!

I signed the paperwork with the dealer for my Super T Friday! I had originally picked the Holan panniers, but after I called Holan and dealer called Holan it was clear the panniers would not likely ship from Poland till about April 15, so I decided to go with the Touratech Zega Pros.

Yeah, welcome to the waiting for Holans club. The importer is 30 mins from me and they mis-understood my first try at ordering so missed that shipment. Supposed to be top of the list for this incoming order. Should just ride over but don't have the time to get there by closing.

Holan update. Just emailed asking for an update and they replied that the SHIP" is due to arrive today. So I'm guessing that really means a ship. Noting that Pittsburgh is not a port city my guess is that we will be waiting for a road carrier from the port city. Also since the boxes are from the EU I'd also hazard a guess that customs is going to spend some time with our side cases!

In other words there is a bit more wait I'd say.

Which of these, if any, holds (in right side bag) a helmet?

I'd like to be able to ride and hike, etc., not have to mount a tail trunk, and still lock my XD-4 out of sight.

Thanks to all for posting all the great photos and info.

I think you will need a top case to stow away an Arai xd4. No panniers I know of will fit a full face helmet.

Boy I was just about to say that you're not likely to get a helmet to fit but I remember my old Concours could swallow a helemt easily and those bags were excessively wide. But they did have a good conical shape. I'd first try the Givi bags.

Hi,

I have the 45 litre Holans, and the right side can fit my fiancee's Schuberth C3. It is tight to get past the flange but it fits fine. It is a medium size shell, but fairly large a it is a flip.

I am loving these panniers. Ordered them direct from Poland and they arrived in less than a week to the UK. Also bought the inner bags and a headlight guard.

They were a bit tricky to fit as the frames needed a little tweaking, but for the money they are fantastic. I well take photos very soon.

Regards,

Matt

Hey Matt, Glad to hear you got them and are happy. Post up some pics when you get a chance.

As for my Moto Insight experience. I ordered Mid-Feburary by phone. We discussed how close I was and that I would not have to pay shipping. No CC as we noted that I would pay in person at pick-up. Bad move. The next two sets they got in went to phone orders. I found out when someone posted here so called at the end of Februray. This time I was first in line for the next set coming in.

Although I'm a bit confused about the April dates noted above since I'm being told that the next shipment is in the country. Although it may only have been 4 sets? Probably should email to capture the conversations but phone is easier. Oh and I think I've been talking to Steve not Bill.

They also asked me to ride in so that they can make an installation video to post on their site...I'm hoping this is the key to them making sure I get the next set as promised...no disrepect to Boostedxt!

Can an owner verify that the Holans are NOT raw Aluminum and do'n't leave black residue on the contents.... Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Mine look fairly "raw" but not sure on the black marks. I will do a trial when I get home from work and see if I can get some marks on something. The inner bags are black so I am not too concerned, but I can understand it being an issue.

Matt

I know i read on the nomada and holan sites that they are an aluminum alloy and do not mark thus no need to powder coat. coulda swore i read somewhere that magnesium was the other component. not sure how that makes it non marking but a.review on the adv forum confirmed no marking and i like the raw aluminum look so was pretty happy to order.... now if they would just come in!?!

Matt..were you able to square them up across the.back? Noticed that you mentioned having to tweek the racks?

Also the liner bags look good. Are they worth getting? Was looking at those handles as well, did you consider?

Hi Terry,

The main issue with the racks is getting the lugs to line up with the mounting points where the grab handles are removed. I just filed the holes on the lugs a little to give some play and it all seemed to work out ok.

The welding on the cases and racks is great, and overall really pleased with them. The inner bags seem sturdy, and I went for a large right and medium left to take account of the cut out. It means there will be a few spare litres in the left to put some stuff.

I did not get around to photographs or testing for black marks as late home from work and early out the door tomorrow, but will attempt both tomorrow.

One other point... I am really pleased with the width of the 45s. Total of 97cm (not sure what that is in good ol' USA inches), so narrower than the Touratech combo I was considering and much more volume too.

Regards,

Matt

Caribou Luggage 36L with Hepco Becker racks:

Close up of the Hepco Becker racks. Found out I have an older version. These racks have been changed over to a newer version that allows the use of aftermarket mufflers. I'm thinking about working up a "tool tube" in the right-side rack.
