This one is mine. I've since replaced the OEM cases with Jesse Odysseys. This is packed for a long, camping weekend on and off highway, 2-up. I've weighed everything we put on the bike, including ourselves fully suited up. We're just under the max. payload (451 lbs.). When I see solo riders carrying more payload than us, I can't help but think they need some advice.lacofdfireman said:Not sure who these belong to but they are loaded up pretty good.
I have a Penske 3-way shock and 2 springs - one for everyday riding and one for fully loaded. Takes about 45-minutes to swap spring and adjust the rebound/damping settings accordingly. I also run the Mitas E07 Dakar (4-ply) tire that bears the weight well. The bike handles very well in all conditions as long as you are always mindful of the weight. Riding double, especially in the back country, is a unique challenge. I have other dual-sport bikes to ride in other circumstances. Each is very fun when excelling in its element.
This is from last year (2015) at the Blue Heaven Cabin on the Idaho BDR. 2 weeks, 3,000 miles, many hundreds of miles of twisty mountain roads and dirt roads. Honestly, this section of trail was about our limit, very challenging, very satisfying. No complaints from the bike. The Super Ténéré is built to handle this!
