I know my Honda CBR1100XX doesn't like full synthetic with my weight. The clutch doesn't like it...
What's the consensus with the S10's? Full? Semi? Full dino juice?

You need to look for the label on the back of oil that says "Energy Conserving". If you see that, put it back on the shelf. That indicates friction modifiers, which are good for an engine, but bad for a clutch. Since we use common oil for both, it's a definite no-no. I'm 290 and run full synthetic Mobil 1 15w50 and have no problems at all with it.

I run the dark blue bottle Rotella T full synthetic (no additives) in mine and several other bikes that I have owned. Always has worked very well with no issues and I am not a little boy... It's usually the additives that they put in some of the blends and regular oils that reek havoc with the clutches.

I recall that my dealer put in Castrol semi-synthetic in mine last service and no trouble at 240.

As I recall, Hondas of that era had friction disc material that made them more prone to slipping when synthetic oils with certain additives were used.

My Yami dealer changes the oil. They see me a lot!

The service manager is pretty savvy and has talked me out of paying extra for oil. Since the dealer has to supply the regular oil under contract, my S10 sees regular old Yamalube.

Someday the contract will be up. :(

But I recon I will buy my oil & filters from my dealer for continued goodwill. (Washington took a big bite out of their business with NASA downsizing)
They really make me feel like they appreciate the business.

But when I'm paying for it, I'm likely to step up to semi or full synthetic. Yamalube just to make them happy.

I use the Yamalube, I get an entire oil change kit off eBay--Yamalube engine and gear oil, Yamaha filter, and 4 new washers for $62 bucks shipped to my house.. Local dealer wants almost $90 for the same kit.

Yamalube stuff works fine for me..
