A year ago I posted a one year anniversary post https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/one-year-anniversary.25866/#post-361253
I‘m a few days late on posting how the second year has gone but better late than never. The bike is now at 35,505 miles. The big news in year two was checking the valves, thankfully all within spec, and while doing so replaced spark plugs, looked great, air filter which looked decent. Also, synced the throttle bodies. Three oil and filter changes along with two rear end oil changes; do rear end oil every other oil change. Tried a Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 on front which I liked and lasted slightly longer than a Michelin Anakee 3 at 8,200 miles; wasn’t totally worn out but was doing tires at the time. Currently running Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires. I like them but a little rough riding.
Issues. Hard cold starts appeared again this winter along with a single stall. I checked air temperature sensor and found within spec. Bike runs fine and the issues are so infrequent along with no “check engine light” or codes that troubleshooting is like chasing ghosts.
Mods. I installed a Booster plug. Definitely enables the bike to start quicker as it should since ECU thinks the temperature is really cold so mixture is richer. Also, I believe the bike is a little smoother coming off of idle. A relatively easy installation. However, the bike has stalled once since installation. Nuts. Going forward, when the temperature gets really hot this summer and I don't ride much, I live in Texas, my plan is to remove the ECU and get a reflash and will remove booster plug at that time.
Overall, I’m enjoying the bike but think Yamaha could do better and hope the company does so on next version.
