Has anyone tried this seat pad on the ST?

A buddy used one on top of his stock Vstrom seat for a long trip and said it was a big improvement over the stocker...

I was thinking of getting the small one (P Pad) and maybe installing it under the existing seat cover. If it resulted in being too high, I could still put the seat in the low position.

Airhawk gets a big thumbs up from me ::008::

Long days? About 85,000km of days over 1200km in the last couple of years and still going strong.

Size: Medium cruiser.

I agree with merchant on this. I have the gel cushion and I had one of my seats done on my HD by Butt Buffer I ended up selling the seat a complete waste of money. I am trying the Airhawk R medium cruiser right now but cant comment its only been a week.

On my last long day I rode 400 miles with a piece of sheep skin on
my seat . Started to get uncomfortable so I removed it and rode the
last 200 miles on the stock seat with out an issue . I think being able
to change the pressure points made the difference .
I've never liked the " feel" of jel pads or the airhawk but the airhawk
is better than jel pads .

Short of a custom made seat, the airhawke does the trick for me.

I am currently using the Butt Buffer with the sheepskin cover. It's ok, not perfect. I still get the pressure points after 50 miles. I have used an Airhawk on a cruiser and couldn't get used to the feeling I was sliding off the bike when in a corner and the air was shifting between cells in the bladder. It also put me up too high and then I had buffeting issues. I remain on the lookout for the next new thing.

+1 on the Airhawk. Keep the air pressure LOW, it has a tendency to expand on hot days and will be uncomfortable. I would't ride without one. Have tried many things including sheepskin, gel, etc. and I think the Airhawk is best.

I agree, run the Airhawk pressure low.

Any sense of sitting up high on it or sliding around indicates there is too much air inside - let some out.

It works by spreading the load area around to eliminate pressure points, rather than floating on an air cushion.

A sheepskin over the top is still an option and makes sliding a cheek off to the inside in the twisties a bit easier and smoother.

I put a Corbin on mine, cost a little more but well with it! I put my first on an 2004 HD Nighttrain and after 3000 miles to Sturgis and around it was still comfy! :)

Airhawk is great and they have to be low for better grip and stability. I installed Corbin seats and like it. I can wait to make more miles on it.

I am running a corbin and the airhawk R. I can honestly say that the corbin is a huge improvement over stock, yet unable to ride a full iron butt without discomfort. I thought once I got the seat I wouldn't need the Airhawk, but I was wrong. I find myself forgetting that I have an arse on a long ride. As for the Airhawk, you want to set the "level" so that you are just about contacting the seat. You will know when you have it right. There should not be pressure in it without you on it.

As for riding too high... get a tall shield and a windshield bracket. I run a parabellum and a madstad. Together, with the seat combo, I am able to run my seat all the way up with the Airhawk and tailor the windshield to suit the different heights i ride at. This means that I can alter my leg position every fuel stop, and I honestly find the high position to be the most comfortable as it gets weight off your butt and down on your feet. Good luck with the comfort search.
