I'm ordering one today ( http://screaming-banshee.com/home ), I did a search and found only one person ( boondocker) had posted about installing one. Any one done the full install linking it to the lights yet? Got any hints or tips for installation? I found some stebel mounting threads, which is almost the same thing.

I'm most likely going to order the "Full split Screamer", where the pump and hose are already separated. I'd like to do the headlight integration too, but don't know how much trouble it is to get to the necessary wiring.

Maybe when I get this done I can actually make the guy who tried to share my lane this morning stop sipping his coffee.

I finally installed this today, it went pretty easily. I opted to put mine right in the center-front of the bike, and I put the pump above the factory tool kit. I used the included brackets and a a spacer to achieve this, had to use my own hardware for that customization. Those hose isn't hooked up in this picture.

The pump fits in this space above the tool kit, I fished this zip strip up and around to hold it.

I routed the hose out the hole in the bottom of that compartment, then back in an "S" form to get to the pump and stay out of the way of the forks. I had to enlarge the existing hole a little bit for the hard plastic hose included to fit. The rest is really easy, but I chose not to tie into the headlight circuit, mostly because I didn't know how to locate the closest high beam wire. I'm sure there is one in the right side panel where I mounted the rest, if someone does this and identifies it, let me know.

The only wire I cut was the red one, the rest were the right length for where I put it. I could have coiled the red one up, but I'd rather not have a hot wire longer than necessary. I used the bolt next to were the factory toolkit strap attaches as the grounding point. I put the control unit above the relays, I just tucked it in because it can't go any where once the panel is re-installed and the other wires were secured. The way my hose is mounted runs close to the engine and rectifier, so I'll have to watch it for signs of heat bothering it. If I had a few 90 degree fittings the correct size, I could have kept it really tight to the wheel well on the right side, but I think it will be fine.

Search for Baja Squadrom LED and you will find install posts with picures of the nearest high beam wire. You have to pull a protective boot out of the way to get a positive ID on the wire.

Thanks, I will look for that. If I find it I will post it in here. ::003::

I found the picture in that thread by Stevepsd, it shows the connector and wire to tap just above the right side panel. Because this is actually behind the fairing, I'd still like to find this wire behind the right side panel, but this is the closest know location of the correct wire so far. You can see (and he explains in the thread) that it comes into the connector yellow, and leaves pink. This photo I lifted from his thread shows a bullet connector he added.

Yessir! Shouldn't be hard to trace the pink one from the lights, although it may be a bit time consuming. I used the Yellow because it was closer for my application.

I haven't had time to look at it again, but I did see that the headlight relay is the furthest one back in the row pictured. That is ~4 inches from the banshee controller in my install, so I may look into just picking up the yellow wire right where it comes out of the relay.

If i am thinking correctly, this is the signal wire for the relay. Hooking the banshee there should trip the relay to flash the lights when it gets the signal from the horn.

I just got back from a trip to Nova Scotia on the ST was a bit leery of messing with the lighting circuit before I left.

Well, the yellow wire at the relay is actually a yellow and black wire which supplys a ground for the relay coil from the ECU, once the engine is running. The power side of the coil is a red/yellow wire, which has power anytime the key is on.

I'm confused. Luckily, it's not new territory. Does the relay not get a wire from the switch? The wire from the switch is the one I'd need to tap so that the banshee control can turn the lights on. I thought that was the yellow wire you tapped, and it led to the relay.

First off thanks a ton for this link/info.
I've never heard of this horn before, but I will now be ordering one soon. Question, which model did you end up going with the Full Splt Screamer(separate horn and pump) or the Full Banshee? Thanks again-

I did order the split screamer, the install was easy and it really works great. I keep forgetting to link it to the lights, it's kind of one of those things you forget about until someone tries to merge into you.

LOL!

I know this is prolly a day late and dollar short, but I just read this and figured I better explain myself for others who might want the light-flash option. You can't flash the high beams on this bike by using any of the wires at the headlight relay. You need to search out the solid yellow wire that runs to the high beams solenoids from the handle bar switch (you can find it under that same panel. From the manual I read at the Banshee website, the 'Screaming Bashee Control Unit' sends 12V to flash your high beams.

From the wires at the headlight relay you can only flash the low beams, but you would have to add an additional relay to accomplish that.

I purchased the full banshee and took it to my local dealership to have them instal it. I have a little sportster I tinker on, but this bike I ride and let someone else work on.

At any rate, on my way home, after having it installed, I decided to try it out. It stuck open and didn't stop. I turned around and headed back to the shop. 10 min. later it shut off. Burned up the control unit. The dealership was nice enough to take it back off for me. Charged me $150 to instal it. I returned it back to Banshee, as I bought it direct, and asked them to contact the dealership to arrange for the new one to be reinstalled. I'll let you know how that goes.

I just received my new one and it has a written letter stating it has been tested. I will be a little put out if they don't do something to help me on the reinstall. A defective unit is not my fault and I should not have to pay for it again. We'll see.

They mounted my horn under the roll cage on the left side and the control unit under the right side panel.

Hey concept question - couldn't you just connect the banshee to an added light, like fogs or something? Seems a lot easier than working with the headlights. Worth a try, or no?

Update. They didn't do anything to help with the cost of having the new, improved horn installed. I'm not happy with the customer service on this horn at all, but I do love how loud it is and I can still use my normal horn if I want to just give a polite beep.

I'll buy from another maker for my Harley. If they had a known flaw in their unit they never should have sent it to me.

Anybody installed the full Screaming Banshee horn (not the split unit) between the forks, in the area where the OEM horn is located? Is it doable? I'm thinking of installing a Screaming Banshee, but I'm not keen on the split unit.

It won't fit there without interfering with the suspension travel. A good spot for it is hanging it off the side of the bike where the engine bars attach.

Why would it interfere? People mount lights there all the time, about the same thickness?
