I really want to get back out there again one day, but 3.5 hour ride out and back doesnt make it doable for a day ride this time of year...and I cant do the entire weekend. Throw it out there again during the summer months and I'll make the run.

You would be there in 2.5 hours. I just was there last Saturday, and made it in 2.5 hours from Royersford, PA.

It doesn't change the fact that it's still 2.5 hours drive, and practically a full tank of gas ($$).

I can't make it this weekend, I'm on 24 hour notice at work due to system deployments. Next Spring would be the right time to make a run at this. I'd like to camp overnight so it's easier and more worth the drive.

Alternatively, I've been wanting to ride the road bike (currently the Tiger) to State College for a night out (I'm an alum and haven't been there in a while). If that happens next year we should hook up for a ride even if we stick to pavement.

Venture....you are in Royersford? Shoot man, I am having dinner at the Sly Fox in Phoenixville tonight!

The Bald Eagle run would need to be a weekend trip to make it worthwhile IMO. Keep the idea on the backburner for 2012.

Looks like this Saturday 11/19 I'm getting a dirt ride in somewhere in the Tamaqua/Jim Thorpe/Hazelton area with some other non S10 friends....I wont be taking the S10 either. Probably a KTM 950 SE, 570 Husaberg and BMW F800GS

Yep, Phoenixville is not far. As a matter of fact there was a second Sly Fox right on Lewis Rd in Royersford, but they've rebranded it (I think) as the "Happy Lab' or something. Not sure what's up with that.

I'd like to join you on a dirt ride some time, if the ride is amateur-friendly. I've been out on two good dirt outings so far and lived, but I don't want to push my luck too quickly. I need to get the suspension sorted on the KLX as well in the meantime.

The dirt ride skill level varies...depends on which bike gets taken. The S10 goes essentially the same places the KTM does, but at about 1/3 to 1/4 the speed. If its a day looking for dirt and riding the roads, the S10 goes out. If its "we are going here and riding dirt" the KTM goes. I will keep you in mind for the next big adventure. I'll send you a PM with my contact info.

Don't let Venture fool you. He's a bit more than novice level. He particularly likes Longwell Draft.

I may be up for a few hours Saturday. I'll have to get back to you on that. I whacked my shin last Saturday falling off the ramp unloading the WRR after my ride with Venture. I was considering taking the Tenere out Saturday, still may. Lower boots don't irritate my shin.

Let me know who is going, and what they are riding. I can probably do noon to about three-three-thirty. I have to see if the boots bother my shin.

The Tenere does surprisingly well out there, but a lot slower than the WRR. I need to take it easy on that, I've already proven I need a much more robust bash plate.

I'll try to check back here before Saturday morning, but my week has been pretty rough so far.

Yamaguy, so far just me,maybe 2-up with my son, just figuring on gravel roads, nothing too nasty as I don't have bars or skidplate yet. Head west from 235 to 322 then you could loop back 0n 522. Let me know!

What will you be riding?

If the S10, then I can think of several routes that will be very nice. There's most likely better places to meet if you are riding the more street oriented bike.

If something like my WRR, then we need to keep your bash-plate-less condition and passenger in mind.

Check your PMs as well as here. I'll update this evening or very early tomorrow if I have to work late today. Either way, I don't plan to be on the road too early, as you know, it is a bit chilly in the AM. I'm turning into a winter wimp.

I'll be on the S10,thinking hunter rd. to Treaster Valley to Millheim_Seiglerville Pike or some combination. I'm fine 2-up on gravel. Why don't we make a go/no go call at 10:30-11:00, see how cold it is at that point?

Great. It takes me about 45 minutes from here to there. I expect to know by 10 AM.

I plan to go, but may leave there for home by 3, it starts getting chilly by then and the deer are out. The ones everyone says aren't here.

Check here by ten, I'll have posted by then or soon after.

OK, looks like it will be as good as expected. I'll see you at the 235 parking lot just north of Hunter Road.

Agreed. Could stand warmer temps as well.

Once again, Blue Teneres are found to be the best.

See: others also feel that Blue ones are the pinnacle of proper all-road mounts.

Black ones just wish they were.
