So I got my Sargent seat Friday ( great customer service by the way). I think I put about 40miles or so on before I put it back in the box thinking I will send it back. I found the seat was very well made, fit and finish was excellent. This is a beautiful seat which is why I am struggling with whether I'm going to return it (suck up the 10 % re stock fee) or not. The seat was very firm which I don't like and why I never got a Corbin. It may eventually break it in over time but the form of the seat seems to want you to sit in certain spot and anywhere else is uncomfortable. So flat and firm is ok but contoured and firm me no like. When breaking I slide forward more the stock and find myself using my arm strength to stay put. Also my thighs feel pressure ( specially when putting the feet down at the light or other maneuvers ) because the seat flares out and is wider in the front not as narrow and soft as stock. Could be my but doesn't have the fat like my belly does or there is not enough cushion in the rear of the seat. In fact if you look under the seat there is and opening where you feel and look at the thickness or lack thereof the cushioning. I sat on the pillon and that felt comfy and supportive ( someone had a question about that). Not sure what I'm going to do. Hope the pic post as well.

You have 30 days. I would put some more miles on it and see how it breaks in for you. I put almost 1000 miles on each Corbin change before I declared it a :mad: .

At a certain point you are ::002::, but for me it has changed enough over time with a couple of seats that I see the value in extending the trial period.

I am also going to convert the stock seat to a Seat Concepts seat when they have the kit ready next week or the week after...

Thanks Rob.. I was thinking of giving it another try. In fact my original plan was to use it on my trip to tail of the dragon NC next week. Thats a good 1800 mile trip for me. But after riding on it for the 40 miles I had second thoughts. I do have the 30 days but I want to keep it "like new" if I return.

It's definitely more firm than the sargent on my ST1300 that probably has 45,000 miles on it. I can't remember if my other sargent was firm in the beginning, probably.

It feels different than the BMS and definitely the stocker. I've been getting over the flu this past weeks o hopefully next week/weekend I can put a few miles on it. The seat looks great. I did have a hard time latching it at first and there seems to be a little movement on the wings, up and down so it might not be as planted as it should but I'll look at that later, again just probably needs some break in.

I'm having the exact same thoughts. Customer service and build quality of the seat are excellent, but it is firm. I like the shape (sort of reminds me of an old tractor seat) and I'm pretty comfortable with where the seat "places" me on the bike. The cover material is nice too, just slippery enough to allow comfortable moving around on the seat without major movement during stops/accelerations; which, I'm sure, is influenced by one's riding gear material.

Firmness. When I sit on the seat I feel very little settling into cushioning (6'2", 195#). I rode for about 1:40 hours and was starting to get a little bit squirmy. I would start squirming on the stock after about 1:15 - 1:30. If I throw an Airhawk on top of the stock, I can go for 5 hours with little problem at all. So I guess I can do that with the Sargent, but I was hoping to get rid of the Airhawk. It's comfortable but I get sort of a disconnected feeling especially on winding roads.

I really want to keep this seat but if it's not giving me much more comfort time than the stock seat it might not be worth it.

Same here. Really wanted this seat to be it. Build and finish is top notch. But my rear didn't handle it well this week. Too firm. Yesterday I took an extended ride that I normally take and I may have moved more in this seat than I did the stock. I have bit the bullet and got an October 15th build date for a Russell.

I ordered both front and rear. Bike not back from dealer til Thursday. Will give them a whirl. Has to be an improvement over stock which I initially found to be adequate. Seems like more and more it isn't going to cut it. Noticing the seat pan more sooner than i remembered from when it was new. I have about 9k on it. Hope these work.

Got my Sargent seat yesterday. Front and back. I like the deeper dish seat, haven't measured yet but feels about an inch lower than stock. Looks cool, fits my butt well, but I can't come to grips with the fact that its a much harder seat than stock. I just don't understand it. Are these seats supposed to break in?

Interesting theme developing here!

It clearly is a harder foam that Sargent has used in the past. I am intent on breaking mine in, and am figuring it will take a few hundred miles. It seems a bit better each day.

I had messed with my stock seat, removed some foam, etc., and am not thrilled with my work! I plan to order a Seat Concepts kit as soon as they have them up on the site to get the stock seat back to a decent usable condition. The SC seats are a nice price because you re-use the stock pan and cover it yourself with their cover. Made one for my KLX250SF and it is great. I do plan to keep the Sargent and the SC seat...

Got my sargent yesterday.
Quality is first rate ::012::
Took it to work today, nice seat, does not slope as much as the stocker or corbin. less slippery than the corbin, more slippery than the stocker (does not hold your pants in place).
I think it should be a good fit, it's firm, but not corbin firm, tought to describe

Can someone describe where the seat places you? To the front? To the back? I tend to sit at the back of the stock seat, so if it placed me towards the front, I wouldn't like it...

oddly enough, it feels as if there's two seating positions, you can sit towards the rear, but there's also a nice spot that places you forward, if so desired, on a short ride it does feel better than my corbin, which placed me to the back, and was
slippy enough for me to slide forward most of the time.
so far so good. ::003::

Having owned a Sargent on my VFR 6th gen, I was expecting a great seat.

Nice fit and finish but I'm sending mine back, it's jarring to say the least. You really feel the rough stuff. Never thought the stock seat would be better than any aftermarket, but it is!!!!

So disappointed :(

Here are some more pictures of the Sargent. I have not been abke to take a ride, but it does feel much nicer than the Corbin.

The specs say it is about 1/2" lower than stock, can anyone tell the difference? I really don't care for it to be any lower.

It seems exactly the same to me, or very slightly higher due to the firmness of the foam. I am pretty short with a 28" inseam, so I notice these things! I did see that they described it as 1/2 inch lower, but that does not seem to be my direct experience.
