Quite right! Times may change, but standards must remain!

Poor bastard's gonna be rubbing his arse up against the towel bar. Can just visualize it now but here's the one case where you can disregard the following:

Greg I'm totally shocked to hear of this and in the back of my mind I thought you had gone quiet on here so now know the reason!!!!
Bloody hell thats bad luck. Glad to hear you are alive and despite being very battered are keeping your spirits up. There is a lot of support on here and locally from your friends.

If you are up for a visit I'd like to pop in to the hospital ?
I'll pm you.

Make sure you do the required/prescribed rehab. My son had a bad, but not your type of bad, crash and wanted to skip the rehab. We were told by the doctor(s) that is a common sentiment from patients. They advised that skipping the rehab is what lengthens, and sometimes prevents, full recovery. He did his rehab, and was back on a new bike in less than a year. Fully recovered. Stay positive and get well soon.

Quick update with pics..

Injuries..

After three operations on my right wrist it's still in plaster as the graft hasn't healed as well as expected and my fingers are now locked solid in a claw position due to the injuries to the tendons... awaiting several operations.. Three specialist surgeons and my wife who's an ED specialist said that thats the worst wrist injury they've seen without amputation...

Left wrist is in a soft cast but locked solid and very painful, possible screw or one of the plates has moved. Waiting on another op for that.

Broken L7 in my lower spine is stable but gives me back pain at night and i'm struggling to sleep

Right knee is extremely painful .. Lots of tendon damage.. Waiting for nature to take its course as I cant use crutches they won't operate on it to speed things up..

Other than that i'm fine.. :D

Some pictures..

Accident and me on the floor... Car was shunted round 180 degrees

You can see that the impact was taken on my upper arms hence the upper limb injuries.. The back injury was when I hit the tarmac about 25 feet down the road.

X rays of left wrist in order from injury to the last op I had

Right wrist...

After the accident

First Operation

Second operation

I'll have the X rays from the last op after I see the consultant in two weeks

My biking mates have been brilliant... Regularly taking me out and generally keeping my spirits up.. Regular phone calls from Ploughjockey as he's the other side of the UK..

In general i'm ok.. I have good days and bad days like most... Soon as the plasters off I can drive and get about so things will progress quickly..

I hope the progress continues and you beat the odds and recover better than they believe you will. Glad you are keeping up with the mates and fighting thru the process. Thanks for sharing with the forum too. ::008::

Comfrey is good at helping to encourage bone healing. I'm sure it helped me.

Dang Gregory - That's probably not going to buff right out. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Seriously, curious to know what you're getting yourself into next. I've long held that if/when I get out of motorcycles I'll probably get back into flying.

Sounds like you've got a long way to go mate but you are still here to tell the tale, looked like an horrific accident, from the state of the bike I don't think any amount of gear would have helped! Get well soon dude.

A picture is worth a 1000 words!! You were very lucky there Greg

As the others have said, don't write off the bikes yet. My wife had a REALLY bad off a few years back. Was told she would never ride again. 2 years later she is!! Detemined doesn't describe her! She set her sights on it and never looked back.

Hope you get sorted soon matey

Well after 4 months of rehab and several operations....

I've bought a new S10... ???

Only done 200 miles on it so far... The wrists give some pain (Most of the time) But its outweighed by the grin factor... :)

The bikes been modified with Tracer bar risers and short levers as I can only use two fingers on the right hand... I also have to wear an odd size glove on my right hand due to metal plating.. and If I park awkwardly someone has to move the bike around for me .. But we're getting there..

::016:: That is great news! Aches and pains will be with you forever, part of getting old and not quite recovering as you would when young, that's just the way it is. But, you're on a bike! That has to be one of the best feeling ever ::008::

Great news - well done. It's amazing how that 'itch' to ride aids recovery.

Take care ....................... KEN
