The throttle hasn't gave me issues but did noticed at full throttle twist, it gets stuck. Bike is OFF when mucking around with it. On a hot day, it doesn't get stuck.

So I opened up the throttle grip and didn't expect that much of a rust. Sanded down the rust, cleaned it and greased it with Lithium Soap grease. Now it is so smooth. I did not observe any old grease at all, meaning did someone forgot to grease it at the factory?

Tips on how to remove the Throttle Grip:
1. On the Throttle Cable housing, loosen and remove both bolts.
2. Remove the Bar End weights.
3. Split the Housing as you remove, exposing a white circular part that holds the 2 cables.
4. Remove the cables from the circular part by siding out the "end ball".
5. You are now able to slide the throttle off the bars.
6. I took the opportunity to lube the cables too with some Silicone lube.

Would be good to mark the location of the original position before removal so that things are installed back to original condition later.

Your throttle tube does wear on the bar.
Even my Gen 2 ally bar and also my ProTaper bars show a wear point at the outer edge on the bar where you palm is - from counter steering.

The Gen 1 bikes have steel handle bar so it will rust if you wear through the paint/finish.

Clean it up and paint with something like rattle/spray can rustoleum/killrust, then a nice thin coating of water proof grease for easy twist and protection.
