So, I'm having a very Monday kind of Monday. My desk phone rings and it's my wife. She says "I just got a call from "Eeyore" (the Tenere). He insists you leave work early and take him for a ride." ::013:: Who am I to argue?

This is not the first time she's done stuff like this (i.e. express shipping a cable I forgot to take with me to Alaska, and some other supportive actions) and I figure mine's not the only story, although I like it the best.

Anyone else have a good story, one liner, or experience to honor the ones that not only tolerate the obsession but encourage and enable it (in the good sense)?

I would like the record to show I am the first to ask, "Does your wife have a sister?"

This month will see me having spent 44 years with a mighty fine woman. Not only is she still a handsome wench (IMHO), but right after my accident earlier this year, where I basically toasted my Tenere, and I was lamenting the money spent thus far, she declared .. "you have to have a new bike". She's a good woman. Those of you who have met her can confirm. I love her awful. R ::008::

Two examples come to mind.

Back in the late 80s all our bikes were sold for financially responsible reasons. One Saturday morning a few years later, before we even rolled out of bed she turned and said, "let's go buy a motorcycle." Spent the rest of the day hitting the local dealers.

The other was just last year. She had a very bad Saturday and totaled her Wee Strom getting her ankle run over by an F150 pickup truck in the process. The next day, the first words out of her mouth were, "what kind of bike are you going to buy me." I wasn't ready to think about that yet.

She learned to ride in our first year of marriage when I got her a brand new Yamaha XT350. 25 years later she's back on an XT again.

After a long marriage ended with somebody who kept telling me that riding was for "loners" she found herself alone. OK, so there were a few other challenges, missed communications, etc.

Like the saying goes, divorce is so expensive, because it is worth every cent.

My new partner had been a friend for a very long time friend. She was encouraging long ago and while we were both married to others. She understands Rides to Eat, groups, and the togetherness that we share when riding. It was her idea that next summer we do a "bucket list" kind of tour, so we are heading for the coasts of Sweden and Norway!
