Well, that is total horseshit. There are many riders here using 2" risers with OEM lines.Rethy said:not safe without the longer hoses.
Peace of mind is a good thing, but having said that, adding 2" risers to rubber mounted bar clamps will be your next issue if all that stuff listed in your sig is on your bike for good reason. More likely than not, you will not be happy with the spongy feel of your bars now, with those risers, especially off road.UpToNoGood said:I went with the Rox 2” and extended cables. Were the cables required? no and there is a known work around, but is that the best choice who knows. Other people have been fine with the work around so far, however Yamaha made the stock cables to fit the stock configuration. Adding the risers changes what Yamaha had intended with the stock cables and people seem to be ok with the work around, but I like piece of mind knowing a one off chance of failure won’t leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere and consider it cheap insurance. People take risks all the time like not where seat belts and go years without issue until that one time something bad happens. It is a personal choice at the cost of a few more dollars and it is each person’s risk to take.
Dully noted on the spongy feel that may or may not bother people. Doesn't bother me as of yet. However the OP was asking about the cables and I just wanted to provide my personal choice. Ride and be happy.scott123007 said:Peace of mind is a good thing, but having said that, adding 2" risers to rubber mounted bar clamps will be your next issue if all that stuff listed in your sig is on your bike for good reason. +1. Can it be done? Yes. Should it be done? No.ace50 said:Hey can I get in on this?
After seeing and riding another Tenere with stock lines and 2" risers and seeing how tight they were,
I would never do that, but he felt comfortable with it on his bike so I don't even care.
I had 1-1/8" risers on mine and that's not an issue there, but now I'm at 3-1/2 so I had to make line extenders.
