. . . . I haven't seen it this pronounced in other bikes I've ridden, . . . .
Chances are that none of the other bikes had this much immediate torque. BTW, does your stage name have anything to do with a KLR 685?

Just in case you guys are interested, completed bleeding the clutch and it's essentially the same. Engine oil is fresh, running 10-40 Motul synthetic. So it appears my friend Lurch is here to stay - all good!

SeaBass mentioned it. . . . but, I don't know if you tried it as a diagnostic test. Squeeze the clutch lever, and count to 4 or 5 (or more). . . . then shift into first. I think he's right about the spin down.

Recently rode with a friend and he was on his fairly new 1200GS. When we started next to another at a traffic light, I noticed that his GS clunked just as much as my old Tenere when shifting into first, so I figured it’s probably normal.
Unlike me, he takes his bike to the shop for every service.

I did try SeaBass' physics refresher :)as a test, and it does appear to help a bit to wait for a few seconds until shifting into 1st. I knew I should have taken more of the hard sciences instead of social sciences like Economics.............
