Help! So I have a birthday coming up soon and I want to get part numbers to the wifey. I am looking at the 6" Rigid LED bar. Which one is the hot setup and where is the place to get it from(read easy because the wife is blond) No it's not a dye job either :D TIA

P.S. I was thinking the Specter 90661 from Amazon for $235 as a reference.

Your going to get a bunch of different answers to this. I would suggest looking up what you think you might like then head on over to youtube and watch videos, to make sure you like how it projects, because they are all fairly different. But here is the link to the ridged driving light. Their videos on durability is what sold it to me.

10-4 on that. I did some additional research and am now leaning towards the flood/spot combo light but still not sure. I tried youtube but couldn't find much model specific. I found lots of 10" and 20" but not so many 6". I will keep looking. Thanks

I agree! That is one bright light. He turned it on when I was looking at the mounts from about 12" from the front of the bike. I could not see a thing for a good 30 seconds and after that were spots all over the place for another 60. Do not inspect his light if he is close to the controls. ;)

You won't be disappointed. Its amazing how much light that little 6" light throws off, and you can easily add more (reference Jaxon's mirror mounted lights) if you feel you need more lighting.

I combined this light bar from Rigid Industries (90669):

http://www.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting/90669

with these spot beams from Cyclops:

The rigid industries default brackets mounted perfectly. I bought a universal round mount kit for the Cyclops. I am very happy with my setup. I wanted the option of having two different light patterns in addition to the default Yamaha lights. It will be useful for when it is daylight for 23.5 hours a day in Alaska.

Hey all, I love the Rigid lights. The light bar is the spot/flood combo wired via relay to the highbeam switch. I do a lot of night riding here in Southern Arizona. Ive had the light bar on since the bike was pretty new. Its super bright and turns on instantly. My newest additions are the Rigid Dually flood lights. The are wired via relay directly to the ignition at the auxiliary/oem light plug behind the battery area. They are constantly on and I haven't bothered to put a switch of any kind on it. Surprisingly, I've never been flashed by oncoming cars, possibly due to the fact that they are canted out to light up the corners. Be aware that all these lights are not "cut" like the headlight, they are more of a perfect circle of light which is what I wanted. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

The light came in Friday so I installed it yesterday. It took me quite a while to install everything because I needed a relay, which I found at a local auto parts store along with some spade terminal pins to snap into the OEM light accessory plug cap end. I found some Ford terminal pins that slipped into the OEM cap on the accessory plug that fit and snapped in nicely. Sure beats paying for one from Eastern Beaver. I was about to order one and then as I have the cap in my hand I got to thinking why order one when most of what I need is in my hand. You need to pop out the 3 rubber plugs and simply snap the spade terminals in and you're all set. Instant plug end. Thank you Yamaha ::022:: The stock light bar bracket needed a bit more effort. A bit of grinding with a die grinder and some touch up paint and good to go. Used some nice acorn nuts for a more finished look. Tapped the pink wire just behind the connector on the upper right fairing side and she works like a charm. I ended up using the ignition wire, tan I believe on the OEM accessory plug and left the hot wire for future use if needed. Overall I am very happy with the final product. It has been cold and rainy for the past 2 days so I haven't had a test ride yet but hopefully tonight I can sneak out for a shakedown run. It's freakin bright in the garage though... ::024:: One thing I should point out. I used the supplied long brackets and turned them outwards allowing me to use the existing bolt mounts. I found a couple of bolts slightly longer and used them to make up for the thickness of the bracket material. After looking at other threads it looks like some turned the brackets inward and used the empty bolt holes. I tried that first but would have needed to really chop the brackets or plastic to fit so I found the way I did it to be less chopping and provided a nice clean install without actually adding additional hardware. Anyways, just passing it along for the next guy tackling this install.

Update. The spring rains let up for an hour last night so I went out for a 15 minute ride on some dark gravel roads. Very happy with the spot/flood combo ::012:: when I turn it off and run just the low beams it's pretty stark how poor the OEM bulbs are. I am now looking to replace the H7 bulbs with some PIAA's. It was like having a candle in the there by comparison.

The difference is drastic. Try riding for like an hour then have to turn them off,you can't see a damn thing! Also just keep them on all day. It greatly increases your visibility during the day.

Does anyone have a 6 inch combo mounted on a rumbux crash bar with pics? I'd really like one of these just not sure how it will fit on the rumbux.

I have that exact setup. I will snap a few pics when I leave the office for lunch. Don't mind the bugs...

Here are the pics, I took one up close to show the mounts and clearance. It is kinda looking up into that space. The other is a bit further away to show how it sets just up behind the RUMBUX bars, kinda protected.

I am using the Rigid bar mounts, http://www.rigidindustries.com/mounting-options/41020

Works like a champ and allows for some adjustment up/down and forward/backward.

I didn't go that far. I think your unit has some options to set the default using a button and to trigger some flashing mode. I didn't want either of those features enough to bother trying to wire it up. The 3-position Trailtech switch is easy to wire up for the basic switched power levels of 10%, 20%, & 50% on low beam, overridden by 100% power on high beam. That's enough choices for me. Any more and I could never make up my mind.

I think I have the wiring figured out, but it says to connect a couple of diodes in line. Is there an easy way to crimp them in without soldering them? I was going to send the controller back, but Boondocker has givin me new hope that it will work. Also wouldn't mind some wiring tips or feedback on how you wired yours. I don't want to burn anything up due to my wiring job.

I still haven't wired this thing up properly. I have it set for 10% on low beam and 100% on high beam right now. I like it but want to be able to use the high beam without it also. I will mess with the trailtech switch once I can wrap my head around the wiring. :-[

Where can I get the necessary electrical connectors to utilize the stock auxiliary plug? I know Eastern beaver sells them, but I don't need $20 worth of stuff. Are the pins available at NAPA or some other auto parts store?

Yes I bought mine from a Auto Zone store. It was labeled Ford terminal kit or close to that with a part number of 85377. I had to use a jewelers file and lightly massage the portion that slipped into the connector (cap side) but it fit nicely. They give you 2 of every style shown in the link. I only needed 2 so one pack was good for me.

I agree that there is no reason to buy the plug end when Yamaha gives it to you already. No brainer there. ::024:: I also picked up a $6 accessory relay while I was there.

For the cost of the piaa bulbs, you can go to ddm HID bulb/ballast. Amazing light. highly recommended. pretty sure it was about $60 to my door for the kit
