Good News!

I've found a Gen 2 Super Tenere in my price range! Although, it's not in blue like I originally set out to find. Gonna go Gray!

It's a fly and ride, so I'm taking a week off to ride it home and enjoy. Currently, looking for restaurants, roads, and stops, suggestions.

My plan is to fly out to Houston, TX to pick it up then ride to the Dallas area to see some friends. Welcome to any suggestions for what route to take there.

Then May 6th planning to ride to Arkansas area and explore. I'm looking to end up in Eureka Springs area for a three days. Would anyone recommend going to Hot Springs or Fort Smith on the way?

There's so many roads and loops it looks like it might be good to pick a stop (ex: lunch) and lollygag there. Interested in history, nature, oddities.

Currently, the only stops I know for sure I want to make are the
  1. Oark General Store,
  2. Pig Tail Harley (Christmas present t-shirts for brother and uncle!)

Then Friday, start the trip home looking to fun roads leading either to Winterset Iowa, or Walcott, Iowa. Not sure yet if I want to add extra miles/hours yet or more. Saturday would probably be more of a interstate boogie home. I'm also entertaining the thought of just interstate grinding it out home in one day (650 miles/9-10hours home to Mankato, MN.)

If I'm in your neck of the woods it would be fun to meet and eat or/and ride with a local.

Just be conscious about gas by Oark. I didn't think that I needed to stop for gas while there as there were towns on the map. A lot of those "towns" had 3 to 4 houses and sometimes even a church. I was down to about 10 miles left when I finally got gas. I didn't have cell coverage to find gas. So if down to half a tank and you see gas... get it.

There are lots of pretty roads in Arkansas in the Ouichita and Ozark National Forest areas. One of my favorite stops was at Magazine Mountain - the highest point in the state. I've not been on the Pig Trail Scenic Byway but it looks like a good ride from South to North.

+1 on getting gas when you can. Are you using a nav device other than your phone? In some remote areas of the state you might not get cell service. I plotted a route on my Garmin Zumo and it was very helpful navigating the twisty / turny backroads.

Also, when you are in Texas the 2-lane Farm-to-Market (FM) and Ranch-to-Market (RM) roads are often posted at 75 mph, so you can still make good time on those.

Since your going to Oark you might as well stop at Honda of Russellville , they are one of the biggest Honda-Yamaha dealers in the usa , lots of interesting stuff to see there, very easy access right off interstate 40 and highway 7
They are also pretty close to Mount Nebo , it’s all paved but a rather challenging ride to the top if you haven’t been there before.
