Hello Everyone,

Names Jerry and I'm old owner who's returning to the fold and Super excited about having a Super T back in the garage! It feels like it's been forever since I took my 2012 Super T up the Alcan and all around Alaska. Now it's time to make new memories on my 2015 ES!

Currently living in Houston (Humble, TX). How many other owners are in the area?

Any suggestions on must do Farkels are most welcome. I don't see any extreme off roading in the near future, mainly just back roads, fire access, and gravel roads. I'll be planing another trip up the Alcan in a few years as well as some BDR's down the line. My dad lives up in Idaho and wants to hit up the Idaho BDR someday. http://www.backcountrydiscoveryroutes.com/IDBDR

Here a few photo's of the new beast!

Welcome neighbor! I'm nearby in Atascocita. I really like the red Tenere and new yellow ones also. Once you're ready to get some dirt on that new bike let me know. Curious, what dealer did you get it from?

Have been wanting to do the Idaho BDR from Chief Joseph to Salmon for some time, look me up if you get around to it and we may have to give it a go.

Thanks for the welcome I appreciate it! I've been trying to read over a lot of threads on all the farkles and deciding on what's best for me.

Is the stock seat still uncomfortable or did Yamaha address that with the changes in 2014? I know I want a larger windscreen and I was thinking about going with the National Cycle V Stream, not sure if it'll toss the wind over me at 6'5 though.

I want to add a set of crash bars and a skid plate for sure. I was leaning towards the Alt Rider crash bars and the ACD Racing skid plate, but I read there were issues with mounting them both.

I'm over in Eagle Springs, but we have Humble addresses. Drove up to Shawnee Oklahoma and picked it up from Sehorn Yamaha. If you know anyone who is looking he still has one 2013, two 2015, and I saw one yellow 2016!

What dirt roads around here are you hitting up?

Definitely... My Dad's up in Athol, ID and he's been itching to hit this ride up for a while now.

I saw your photos and guessed Eagle Springs to myself. I'm just down the road across from the High School.

Dirt roads are all north once you get out of Harris County. I have lots of good day routes, backroads up to the forest, weave around on the forestry roads, and then dirt and pavement twisties farther north.

If you value function over aesthetics the Rumbux protection system cant be beat. If you want to see mine in person shoot me a PM.

Heck yah... those rides sound like a blast! Once I get her setup with some protection I would love to go check out the routes you've got mapped out!

Where did you order your Rumbux protection system from? I like the idea of an all in one type system and I like the bar that wraps around the front... would make it easier to mount some aux. lights.

Welcome, Back Jer2675, Sorry you had to buy the Red color, I hate to be the first to tell you, but that is the slowest color.

You will still be welcomed, glad to add you to the fold.

Good Luck

Hi. I just installed the alt rider crash bars and I had no problem installing them. You may want to have a friend over though. It was fun by myself. I'm also 6'5"'and bought the Puig wind screen. It made a big difference along with the winglets. I'm still looking for a skid plate that doesn't cost more than the crash bars and my also go with the Puig. Can't tell you about the seat as this is my first S10. Enjoy, I have ! Greg

I'm leaning towards the Alt Rider bars and the RideOnADV skid plate or going with the Rumbux protection system. With that Puig wind screen do you still get some airflow? Here in Houston it's down right miserable some afternoons and no airflow at all would be brutal. I'm not even sure if it's possible to stop the buffeting and still maintain some airflow, but that's what I would be after.

I have the Puig on the 2nd notch up from the bottom. It gives me visibility over the top and provides airflow to the top of the helmet. My lower chin vent however doesn't get a lot. I have the shoei Neotec helmet. You may want to look at something like the madstad bracket to adjust the air flow to you.
