Hi,

Just picked up this little beauty, a 2012 with zero miles on her. Been thinking about an s10 for years. Couldn't pass up the deal I got. So I'm stoked to actually have one. It's been about 10 years since my last motorcycle. So I'm still trying to build my confidence back up before I can see what she is made of.

First off, welcome to the group.

Is there really such a place as "Peckerwood Point, Tennessee?"
:D

I have the same bike with 45,000 miles and still running strong. A few thoughts for you:

Strongly consider finding a MSF Returning Rider or Advanced Rider course. You already know how to ride the bike but those focus more on traffic and keeping you alive.

The search function works well here, so use it to see what skid plates and radiator fan protection folks like. Those are the 2 Achilles Heals for the bike, so it's a good idea to protect at least the sump.

The bike has been assembled and sitting for at least 3 years. While it should run like a top, IF IF IF the clutch seems to drag, the fix is to simply have the dealer unstack the discs, clean, and re-assemble them. We had at least one person need to do this with an old stock bike and it was common on some of the FJRs.

Thanks for the advice and the welcome. I do appreciate it. Yeah real place Peckerwood Point. It's named for the woodpeckers. Great bird watching in general here.

The clutch feels okay so hopefully it is. I was wondering what ill effects the bike might suffer from sitting up for years and years brand new like that. It seems tip-top so far. The timing does feel a little funny. The dealer told me it was the normal firing of the pistons, how they go one right after the other instead of spaced evenly. I'm no mechanic. But it made sense.

If the clutch hasn't been grabby by now you should be golden. btw - These bikes aren't really broken in till they have more than a thousand miles on them. They just get better over time.

The 270 degree crank is a bit different at first.
