Removing stock pannier racks

I just recently purchased a '14ES with stock panniers. I'd like to remove these and install the side racks from SW-Motech. I notice in the instructions, some of the hardware that was taken off was reused in the installation of the stock side racks and some was to be saved. I have a baggie of nuts/bolts from the previous owner, but feel I'll be a bit lost in this removal/resintallation of the way it came without the panniers. Has anyone done this, and if so, and advice? Since I didn't do the original install, I'll be out in left field as to what needs to be reused and where some of the items (sequence) need to go. One thing I did notice for the ES is a removal of a heat shield from the passenger footrest cover that should be saved for later. Unfortunately, I don't see that heat shield in the former owner's goodies he left for me. Anyone know what I'm referring to?

By the way, these side cases and racks will be for sale shortly (black in color).
