So I'm trying to install the Alt Rider Skid Plate and at one point, I have to remove the two bolts that hold the sidestand in with an 8mm hex key.

Well, it appears as if Thor himself put this bike together because I cannot take the bolts off or get them to move. This is on a brand new 14 S10.

Ive tried pulling with all my might. I've tried pushing the wrench with my foot. And I've even tried hammering it with the little available angle there is to work.

How can I remove these bolts from hell? Any ideas?

It worked.

For those who will be victims of the Thor-handled Tenere, use a long hex key and take the big metal tube that comes with the tollkit of the bike (under the right cowling, towards the front of the bike). Insert tube into hex key, and pull on it like you're trying to save the world.

If you have had Mexican prior to this exercise, you will fart. You have been warned.

I did mine during the weekend and did not face problems. It is tight and secured with blue Loctite but with a good allen key, it was OK. I secured it with a new drop of blue Loctite and tightened it around 40 nm.

I really like the construction of this plate. Seems solid and it is aesthetically pleasing as well.

However, I'm NOT looking forward to change my oil filter. Oil changes with oil filter change have gone from 30 minutes to 2 hours with this plate on.

It only takes me an extra 10 minutes to pull the plate for an oil change. The good news is that you don't have to remove the rear bracket (or the sidestand bolts) to drop the plate. I did eventually weld the nuts for the lower left front side to the plate, since they are so close to each other.

We had to use a breaker bar 2 weeks ago to get it loose.

My skid plate comes off pretty quick for Oil Changes.

This looks useful. I wonder why it doesn't come like this out of the box. Those nuts are the ones that take the longest for me since space to work is very limited.

I installed one a few weeks ago on a friends bike and it took a breaker bar to get it. Hang it up with a regular ratchet arm.
