Has anyone successfully removed the front fairing of their s10? I'm having a tough time. See pics: https://imgur.com/a/tatzU

The part I'm truing to remove is the one that has the Yamaha logo. There are two bolts on the sides but I think there's a third one under the logo. I can't seem to find a way to remove it and the logo doesn't seem to be removable to get to a bolt.

Any ideas?

As I recall, it just pulls straight out from the top. Just pressure fit. Pry on it a bit and you should see how it fits. Tab fits in the bottom.

There's a xmas tree bolt holding it in place. I can see the bottom of it by looking under the piece, but can't get to the top as it is covered by the fairing. It is really strange.

You, sir, were 100% right. I was really afraid of pulling it because it looked and felt bolted on.

A precise and careful, but strong, pull got it out.

THANK YOU!

It covers the push pin in the fairing underneath.

The good news is that I was able to take it off.

Bad news is that apparently that frame is cracked!!! Looks like it has been cracked for a while too.

Hard to tell from the photo. Any idea how, why? Is that the frame the dash mounts to? What year, mileage?

No idea... anything ever hit the windshield or light assembly, or possible vibration failure?

Not that I can remember, but I do know that I've noticed how much the front vibrates since I bought the bike. It might have been broken since I got it... Who knows... I'm going to ask the dealer. I hope this survives 2,000 more miles if it isn't covered.

One of our members did worse to his bike and it's been held together for a lot of HARD miles with screws and metal straps.

Interesting. So it doesn't seem to be something super rare. Any idea how he cracked his?

Good news. Dealer says this can be done through the YES warranty and they can do it on Wednesday :)

Idea? LOL Umm - yeah

Trikepilot's a really good rider who likes to challenge himself. His bike has seen a worst-case torture test for the Yamaha designers, so "Fancy" has been on her side more than a few times. Here's one of his stories from riding coast to coast on the Trans American Trail:
