Remember S and S Aqua Logging from Ax Men?

Years ago I used to watch Ax Men, the "reality" show about logging. There was a father and son team on there running a business called S and S Aqua Logging, who harvested old timber from rivers in Oregon (I think it was Oregon, anyway). I remember watching the father heaping abuse on his son during the episodes, and I used to think "man, that kid is totally going to snap one of these days". If you watched the show, you probably remember these two guys.

I was having one of those days where I just fell down the Google rabbit hole, and this popped out:

It took a little longer than I would have expected, but that head gasket finally blew.

Back in the 60's when I was a kid in Louisiana. My dad had loggers clearing land for him. When we went to the woods one day to see how it was going. He made me amd my brothers stay in the truck while he talked with the logger foreman. A lot of them were on work release from a penitentiatry down the road. Some were convicted murders. I can remember hearing my dad say. "You don't know if they gonna cut your trees or your throat."

Definitely a sad story for the motel clerk, for sure, but I get what you mean....that kid seemed to get nothing but abuse from the old man, and you could tell it was having an effect. Every once in a while you'd see a flash of anger on his part, and it always made me think "man, someday, someone is going to be on the receiving end of that".

Seems kinda like the abused woman thing many of them simply will not stay away from the abuser . But I also realize it’s not that simple.
