Hi everyone. I am looking to buy a GPS for the bike. Has anyone bought a refurbed unit from Amazon? They have a 390lm for about 340. Let me know and if you had any problems pairing any unit with a Cardo blue tooth.

thanks.

I bought several refurbished Garmins in my live and never had any issues with them.
The first was a Quest that still works after 9 years and I also bought a Nuvi. When I first got it I once needed to recalibrate the touchscreen but it's been working flawlessly since, including the Map updates. I do have to say the regular Nuvis are not great in bright sunlight, and mine couldn't upload routes, which is an essential feature for me, so I am using it only in my car.

I bought a refurbished Zumo 660 about 2 years ago and have it paired with my Cardo G9. No problems. Same Garmin warranty as a new unit.

I bought a refurbished Garmin as well last year, although not from Amazon.

Personally I think the only difference from a 'standard' new one is the price!

Garmin refurbs are basically PCBs and displays from returned units that have been repaired and fitted into new cases. A new digitiser is fitted to the screen and a new battery installed. Accessories are new, but the box is plain white. Software and mapping is latest version.

Most refurbished stuff is better than the new!
It has to pass through human hands and not a robotic assembly line to be diagnosed for the issue at that point any other issues spotted will be corrected as well.
Not much in a GPS but on computers and TV's its a bargain.

I bought a refurb 2720 directly from garmin a few years ago and it looked to me to be brand new. I remember thinking at the time Garmin was calling it a refurb to get around their own MAP pricing policies. They were selling the "refurb" units for half of what Garmin dealers were trying to sell the "new" ones for.

I was told by an IBM employee whom I met in Columbus, OH that they do the same thing with laptops. If a certain model hasn't sold at retailers such as Best Buy, IBM takes them back after X months, repackages them and offers them at a crazy markdown at computer specialty stores like NewEgg and MicroCenter.

After having to make insurance claims on cell phones, the refurbed units that come in the mail aren't discernible from "brand new" in appearance and function.

I'd have zero issues buying a refurbed Garmin and will go that route the next time I am in the market for one.

I bought the refurbished Garmin 390LM about 6 months ago. Can't comment on the pairing issue, but I have not had any issue's with it.

Bought a refurbished nuvi 5000, garmin replaced it free three times, the last time it wasn't even under warranty, I really liked it when it worked.

I know I'm super late here, but I'm posting for anyone who finds this thread now.

The Garmin 665LM (was about $950 when current) is readily available all over the Interwebs brand new, with the XM antenna and (2) RAM mounts for well under $350 shiped. I got lucky and found mine for about $320 but I see it all the time for $340 and under.
