Information on the Yamaha Tenere
Just got a Letter from Yamaha motor co. today announcing a recall on the shift shaft on my 2015 Tenere. I understand that these things happen...OK with that.My problem with this is that after a phone call to Yamaha Cust service, the parts are on backorder until the 1st week of June.... This is the 2nd week of April... Also in this letter it states clearly not to ride my motorcycle until it has been repaired... This is unacceptable....

Any hope of a loaner bike until then? (Some BMW dealers have done this)
I'd be very surprised to see this.
You are comparing with BMW needing an exceptional response to an impending PR disaster with the all-new RT water boxer, right after the accusations associated with a journalist's death and teething issues that the new GSW had.

I suggest this thread is closed and people redirected to the other one, linked to above.

I have just posted this link in that thread to some pictures of the faulty part being changed on an MT09 Tracer/FJ09.

To reiterate, if a dealer claims the parts are not available, instruct the dealer to enter a warranty claim on the Yamaha system with "gear shift problem" as the fault. Yamaha will then release a parts kit to fix the problem.

So you'd rather they not bother to deal with the issue? Or perhaps wait until it fails to do a warranty repair? Contact your dealer and initiate a warranty claim for the recall, then see what happens before you get worked up about it.

They may prefer you not ride the bike until it's fixed, but it's up to you to decide what you do. It's called personal risk assessment.
