Has anyone changed the rear brake disk rotor? Looking for instructions and part number.

I changed mine almost two years ago. Very easy and straightforward job. If you can take the rear wheel out, you can change the disc. I’d advise using a good quality tool to remove the disc bolts, if you chew a bolt head, you’ll have problems. Also, use loctite on the bolts when refitting them. The disc bolts require 23nm. Below is the part number for both a Gen1 and 2 bike.

I've done it twice. I have the service manual, if you'd like the exact directions for a by-the-book disc replacement. I used a hammer driven impact driver to get the disc bolts loose, and I did buy new disc bolts for each replacement.

OP, if you want to change the disc bolts, the PN is included in the pic in post #2.

I’ve replaced mine once
And now at 108,000+ miles I’ll soon have to do it again. This time I bought an EBC rotor instead of OEM, P/N MD2100. We’ll see if it lasts any longer than the seemingly soft OEM ones.

You and me, similar mileage, my disk is slightly out of spec.

Placed an order for all OEM brake rotors and brake pads from Mr motorcycle.com , $521.77 delivered , I have ordered from them before and they have always been a little less expensive than any other place I have tried. I plan on reusing the same mounting bolts, this will be my first time changing Tenere rotors, the Tenere has 87,000 miles on it and yes the rotors have been out of spec for a very long time.
There definitely are some much less expensive non OEM rotors available but I didn’t go that route

A lot of that has to do with the fact that many here have changed to the more aggressive EBC pads.
The OEM pads chewed up my first rear rotor just fine, didn’t even need to use anything aftermarket. The front rotors on the other hand seem to be much more durable. I haven’t changed them at all and they’re still well above minimum thickness.

On my previous '12 and current '18, rear pads last 20-22K and the rear rotor is grooved and worn below spec after 2nd set of pads. I keep a new OE rear rotor and two sets of pads in back stock. With price increases, glad I purchased them when I did! Front rotors and pads are fine and wear normally. Don't see any need to change to aftermarket parts.

I should have mentioned in my post above (#14) that my bike is at 108,000 miles.
108,000 miles without replacing the front rotors ? That’s quite a bit better than mine with 87,000 miles. My Goldwing had over 300,000 miles on the original rotors but yes they were worn way beyond factory recommended specs.

I have a new rear brake rotor. tried to put it on one time and broke every tool i had trying to get the bolts out. I am going to have to drill out 4 of them. I didn't have time when i was doing that so i just put the new pads on and let it ride. Now that i have bypassed the rear ABS I am using the rear brake more than I ever have. Guess i will have to get motivated and drill those out and put the new one on soon.
