Hello,
I noticed today a rattle from below under throttle. It's a 2012 with 17kmoles in it. Original chain tensioner and clutch basket. Any ideas? I am on the road with bike now. Thanks for quick response!

I thought that too but ran a tank of 91 non-ethanol and still have issue . Hoping dealer here in WI has upgrade cam chain tensioner. Need to do it anyway and if problem goes away... problem solved.

Are you talking rattle from the engine, or rattle from below the front end? Those are two different animals, both well understood. From your response it seems like the engine one, meaning timing chain and CCT but still not clear.

It sounds from the upper motor and I am pretty confident it's the CCT. seems to rattle less when easy in throttle and short shift. I am hearing it slightly at idle. So is this just a remove the old and install the upgrade job or is it trickier than that?

There are a couple of threads about how. The most important part is to not allow the cam chain to slip on the cam sprockets, which has happened. Otherwise, fairly simple and fast to change the CCT if you have any mechanical background at all.

If the rattle continues, the chain may've stretched, which is not massively expensive in parts, but is a more complicated job.
