Hello!

I am looking to buy a ratchet head for the t50 torx tool in order to install the Altrider universal joint protector and am wondering whether the size of the ratchet head matters due to tight clearances. Anybody able to help me with this?

Thanks!!

The T50 is a half inch drive, isn't it? Seem to remember the 45 is the biggest 3/8". Maybe it's the T60 that's half inch... Anyway, for low profile work you can very often find a metric or SAE box end wrench that fits the size of the actual bit, provided it's not a cheap one piece bit. 9mm, 3/8", 10mm? Been a while. You can drift the roll pin out and have just the bit to work with too. Many of the T50 bits are a tiny bit too short to fit through the hole for the heal guard and tighten the bolt without marring the finish. They do make longer bits.
You should have at least a basic wrench set, 8-19mm, and a ratchet set, 8-19, with a couple extensions, 2"- 4". Screw drivers are nice. Several different types of pliers, and a side cutter, or diagonal cutters... or dykes.

My travel toolkit contains a Husky 3/8" locking flex-head extension ratchet that I picked up on sale at Home Depot. I love the flexibility that it gives me to position the handle just where I need or give me the torque I need. I use an adapter for any 1/4" or 1/2" sockets that I carry, it functions as both a wrench and a breaker bar.

You realize using a torque wrench to loosen can throw it out of calibration.

Don't think it's a torque wrench. I think the handle extends so you can get more leverage to shear off gearhead teeth. Cool idea though. ::008::
